IGT/OGT/VGT rates all require full payment at time of booking, regardless of when the cruise is.

Use a travel agency. Prices are fixed by Disney. Price will be exactly the same regardless of where or who you book with. Most will give you something like on board credits, or a gift card. Best is Costco Travel (about 6-8% back in Costco cash, 2% more with executive, and 3% more with Costco visa)

You can pay for the whole thing with Disney Gift Cards. So buy them at Target with Red Card for 5% off, or Sam's Club for 4% plus what your credit card gives you.

Disney Visa Premier gives you 2% back (which you can use towards tips or port adventures) and pay it off in 6 months with zero interest. There are other cards that are better though.

Hi! What are some of the reasons that you have found justify their very high prices compared to other lines?

I'm pretty new and bad at finding what is a good cruise for a family of 4 from the NYC area, anyone have any hints or clues what would be a good deal?

I was VERY skeptical. After taking many a cheap $300-500 Carnival and the like Cruises over the years, finally did a Disney Cruise a year or so ago. After airfare and all expenses, it cost me, get ready for this.... $25,000 dollars for our family of six. And you know what, it was worth every penny. It was the last send off before my kids start their own adventures. Even now, if the wife and I decide to do a just us Cruise, it will be Disney. They are that good......

Carnival is for those that want to drink, eat and gamble all while not having any responsibilities

Disney is for the family and about the experience, with better food, entertainment options and friendlier staff.

I've done both and for me and the wife Carnival is just fine, for kids 110% Disney is the way to go.

20% off a disney cruise is still 40% more than a royal caribbean cruise with a similar itinerary,...

We enjoy NCL; we took the Escape in November, and it was great. Much cheaper than Disney (which we took from NYC 2 years prior.) Has some great water slides and restaurants.
Last year we took Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas out of Bayonne; also pretty cool.

If you go off-season, you can go for less than $100/person/day.
