Better off using a zip tie. "Master" are the peons of locks, the laughing stock of the industry. Just don't. There's plenty of YouTube vids on it

Ehh I've watched enough Lockpicking Lawyer to know that ANY lock can be picked or bypassed. Sure these might be junk, but even if you spend a lot you're only keeping out honest people.

Agreed. As an example, I have a padlock on my privacy fence's gates. The intent is to deter children and nosey neighbors from venturing into my backyard. I'm well aware that given the opportunity, a determined person could just pick the lock, use a ladder, scale the fence, cut the lock, or just use a sawzall to cut down my wood fence. It's just there for children and honest adults.

So if Masterlock is junk, what lock is a good option that's similar to this one?

A $2 padlock at least increases the difficulty of a crime.

Not really much sense in saying "why buy a lock cuz someone can pick it" yet virtually every asset people own that has value is protected behind some kind of lock.

Bought a set... lets lock some stuff up!

This is the lock picking lawyer and today, we are going to show just how useless this Master Lock is. And we'll do in under 30 seconds. With a zip tie.

LPL would open these in less than 5 seconds. Blindfolded with one arm tied behind his back.

There is no point putting a nice lock on a fence. You can easily just unscrew the latch on wooden fences, or on gates you can loosen the bolt that holds it on the hinges and the whole thing lifts off from the hinged side. If you have the kind of thief that spends his time practicing lock picking/ buying pick sets and not spending his money/time on drugs then hes going to get past anything you use within a reasonable price range. Each piece of security just adds another layer of time and with enough layers hopefully they get spotted or heard. I'm sure the majority of crimes are from totally unprepared tweakers just looking for an easy score. Try to add a few layers of security and you should be ok from most common criminals. If you put obvious amounts of high security stuff out then you're just going to be showing the prepared criminals you probably have something worth their time.
