An active Frontpage deal from around Christmas is a much better deal for most.
It's the same price ($50/2 years) because of the lifetime 50% off promo.
BUT also provides you with a FREE Fire Stick (not 4k) & also a FREE VPN Router.
For those already with an active subscription, you can message the support team to extend your subscription & still qualify

I bought this with the fire stick and mini VPN included a couple weeks ago, and have yet to receive either item. I was told through customer support to create a ticket, did so and have not heard anything back yet.

Furthermore, I get on average of 200-250Mbps through my ISP; and have only managed to get as high as 50Mbps with their service, most of the time the range is between 30-40.

Not really sure that this was worth it in my opinion, especially if I do not get the fire stick and mini VPN router I paid for.

The MUCH better deal was this one, from a previous frontpage post.
It was this price (2yrs/$50), but also included a FREE Fire Stick (not 4k) + FREE VPN Router
Using promo code:50PERCENTOFFLIFE
https://torguard.net/holiday-offe...ffLife.php

The best total sale prices on both free gifts (with amzn Prime) = $33, OR $60 when full price.
Meaning, this deal gets you 2 years of service for essentially $17

Even though I was subscribed until 2021, I messaged the support team and was able to extend it to 2023 & qualify for the free Fire Stick and free VPN router

Not sure in comparison, but Torguard is usually pretty fast. I've gotten upwards of 135mbps continuous, or 165mbps spikes. But that's literally maxing out my connection. If you look in the microsoft task manager, you can see both the wifi connection & what outputs VPN.

Always remember though, you're normally going to lose about 8-12% on VPN, and I've seen it lose up to 17% (I assume the file sizes, types, etc. matters in this variation with TorGuard). That overhead data is part of the encryption, parts that will be removed to make the file you view on your end.

That being said, I've also seen it get fairly low during certain peak usage times, I've seen it drop by more than half. This isn't a daily occurrence, but you still will see smaller drops during normal peak usage times. And remember that running a speed test comparison on your phone, with and without VPN enabled, that you should also run a test without the default multi setting. This is essentially downloading a single file vs many files at once. This is because VPN is treated like 1 never ending file, and therefore will only download on 1 band vs all the bands allowed on phones with carrier aggregation (if the cell company/towers allow it). This might sound terrible, but in real life use you don't see the difference.

This is because VPN's typically have an adblock DNS which will block all ad related files from ever be downloaded. This sames bandwidth and smartphone resources (cpu, ram, gpu....), especially with animated or interactive ads. In addition, it's rare that a server will provide a file at your max download speed, So, you'll essentially never notice a difference in web browsing. But, occasionally you will, and it's usually faster. Especially since most servers will never provide files anywhere near your max download speed. Some exceptions are google drive and samsung's OTA firmware/security updates. On PC's it's easy to see the actual speeds of sites, simply by going into the task manager (there is a more detailed method, but it's overkill if you're loading 1 site at a time, and not downloading anything else.)

Also, remember that using a VPN with an appropriate DNS will prevent your ISP/carrier from seeing the domains, files names, etc (DNS), as well as from being able to tell the type of file (VPN using encryption). Why this is important, is that it prevents the ISP/carrier from violating your net neutrality [which was repealed, and why it's important]. They'll often throttle domains like youtube, netflix, facebook, etc. Anything that uses a lot of data, or that is their competition, or didn't pay them extortion fees to ensure a fast lane. In addition, since they can't see the file types, you'll be able to view videos at full 1080p, 1.5k, 2k, etc. Only limited by your phone screen and the original video resolution.

That being said, I absolutely love TorGuard. It's pretty fast, lots of USA servers, reliable, great encryption, don't keep logs or analyze/sell your data, and is only about $2/mo with 2yr deal (even cheaper if you do the free FireStick & VPN router deal, posted in my previous message. If you needed them, or ebay them that is.)

Every VPN is geared towards different audiences though. For TorGuard, it's essentially the best for Torrents. But there are others that focus more on encryption security, or more speed, or ___________. You name it. What's also important is that they keep zero logs, not even for their own internal use. This is important since many VPN's will monitor and sell your data to 3rd party. Free VPN's make all their money this way, well unless they also force you to view ads in addition. The zero logs is important, since if they keep logs, even if just to "analyze" it for "service improvement", it can be subpoenaed by law enforcement. If they never create a log, there's nothing to hand over.

("Free" VPN's should essentially never be trusted. You can google it to see exactly just how bad it is, and how many are either just a proxy, or literally nothing despite the connected status on their app. It honestly gets even worse than that, with many based in china, which means that every single word or file is getting passed through their server unencrypted, and ripe for the chinese gov't picking.)

Just bought a two year license for this. I found out that the speeds were about the same as Windscribe on the LA server. At this price, I'd go with TorGuard

Just a heads up.
I've been TorGuard user for a while now and agree with the good things said. However, on the downside their mobile app -at least on iOS, can't speak on Android- is just terrible to not call it useless.

I tried torguard through their trial and I was not satisfied with speeds, I still have PIA cuz I subscribed for a year before I found out about their merge with Kape and pia speeds are the fastest are ever seen with any vpn ( so far I tried windscribe, tunnelbear, torguard, proton, nord). My next vpn im planning to check is Surfshark and Express.
