Asus AX58U router - new WiFi 6. Normally $179.99, on sale for $159.99. Google shopping checkout promo code Jansave20 gets you about $20 off. Free shipping. Bestbuy is seller.

This looks to be a good router. I'm planning on using it for a second node using AiMesh.

My total was $148.39 which includes taxes.

Enjoy.

$20 Promo may be limited to new google shoppers.

Alternatively, if you don't qualify for this $20 off, you can bring an old networking router or modem for a 15% coupon from bestbuy.

This looks like a solid router deal although I can't tell if it's a worthy upgrade from my RT-AC87R that's five years old.

I would say if you are not sure, then don't bother. Wifi6 is not some magic speed booster, rather it resolve a lot of network congesting problem with every device want a piece of wifi including dirt cheap light bulbs. Speed boost really just come in as a side effect under those stressed environment. if you can get close ur internet speed limit, you good with your current router.

Yeah I was kind of thinking that myself. I keep having problems with my phone 'hanging' when on wifi at home and I think it's because we have so many devices connected now. Probably a few dozen between laptops/phones/tablets/smartTVs/smart home devices so trying to find something that will alleviate the congestion but would prefer wifi 6 since I don't change my hardware very frequently.

Were you able to test this router out yet? If so how is it? Also why are some AC router still more expensive than AX routers even though they are newer tech?

The AC routers that cost more than this AX router are generally higher-end routers that are faster and/or have more features. Also, some people are holding off on AX because it is not yet finalized and they don't have any AX client devices yet.

I've been using the AX58u for the last month and it's blazing fast. Zero issues so far. Before that, I tried the Eero WiFi system and returned it because It needed three restarts in the span of about three weeks. The speed was very good, but not as fast as the AX58u. And before that, I was on a seven year old AirPort Extreme, which had become weak and unstable over the years.
