Unreasonable Rebate response

10 14 January 2, 2020 at 07:30 AM
Hello,
I had a bad experience with my FIRST TIME rebate submission. Anyone can make mistake when doing something for 1st time. It is distasteful that Rebates team keep referring to rules and regulations; in spite of my VERY reasonable explanation. See the email exchange below.

Hi (name removed),

We are sorry, but as per rebate terms, order confirmation pages, packing slips, email confirmations are not accepted in place of an invoice. There were 2 emails sent to you. You could always track the rebate yourself using your rebate tracking number. We apologize, but at this point, this claim will remain declined.

This is a follow-up to your previous request #96834 "Re: Declined Adorama (SKD-1..."

Hello,
I understand and take blame for all this but please understand the explanation I gave you. I was not expecting anything for 8 weeks after submission. That put me to end of Nov. when I still did not get it; I thought there is delay due to Christmas season. So, I didn't realize (and hence did not look) that it's in my junk mail.
It should not be a big deal for you guys. Besides. Let's be fair here. I had sent everything that Adorama had sent to me....EVERYTHING. Since it was my 1st submission, how would I even know that I have to ask for a different kind of invoice.
Since I had submitted everything that that had sent, my rebate should NOT have been rejected anyway. This is not fair.

I got hosed on a rebate from Diamond. Remember Diamond, the PC peripheral maker? If slick deals wants to sail that ship, they'll end up the same way. I cut the wrong bar code off the box. I sent in the serial number which looked exactly like the upc, it was also right next to it.

There was another, one for CD rws, that was years ago. I'm sure I did that one right. These companies prey on rebaters. Either take scans before sending in everything or accept they're stacking the deck against you. I was rejected once and I knew for damn sure I sent it in properly. Though this time I emailed the scans, then rebate accepted. @ssholes. Initially, a legitimately prepared rebate denied, sh!theads.

It's been discussed that rebate practices are predatory. Slick deals is paid, ahead of time, x dollars by the company that's pushing the rebated item Assuming x numbers of rebates will occur, if more than x dollar limit is submitted, slick deals pays out of pocket for that rebate. Therefore they will fail you to keep their own money.

Either take scans of everything required for rebates, or prepare to accept nothing in return. By the way, the best ones were them never responding, neither acceptance nor denial. Those were fun to chase down. Scan required documents. Take pride is sending that bitch slap of information when they try to pull that bs on you.

Trying to make money off customers, is not a good long term survival strategy. Sometime "Reason" should prevail rather than rules......but no....they are totally refusing to listen and that too when I had a very legitimate and reasonable explanation on top of this being the first time submitter of rebate. All this for 100 dollars. I am sure 100 dolars is going to make Slickdeals a lot richer. it's unfortunate.....and the sad thing is customer does not have a voice here.
I am most certain that person judging this case with such unreasonable mindset (and not putting himself/herself in customer's shoes)......is going to end up paying a lot more out of his/her pocket in personal life.

Hi,

Looking at the email chain I see a pretty reasonable response. Your rebate was initially declined and an email was sent with a link to resubmit your rebate. You were given 30 days to do so. A couple of months after, we sent you another email with another opportunity to resubmit and told you where to find your invoice and even included a sample invoice.
As per rebate terms, order confirmations are not acceptable in place of an invoice. So if we do not have that, and did not receive it during 2 resubmissions windows, the rebate will remain declined.

Hi,
Did you even see my reason for why I could not submit on time?

Yes, I do. But how is it our fault? We did everything we could to get the invoice from you. I believe that is fair. Nowhere in the rebate terms in states to wait 8 weeks. The rebate gets processed within 2-3 weeks from the day you mail your submission. There is also a way to track your rebate online via the link posted on the original post. We also have our email address posted there for any questions or concerns.

Even in this response, you are once again pointing to rules and regulations.....even though I explained here too that this was my first time and I was LESS proactive DUE TO a) Inexperience b) my expectations no result on submission before 8 weeks at least and c) I thought I am not getting response due to busy festive season i.e. I was CONSIDERATE about busy schedule of People working at SLICKDEALS!!!.........all this time NOT REALIZING that your emails landed in my junk folder.

I am not on a fault finding mission here. Frustrated that my thoughtfulness about people at Slickdeals went unnoticed. Ironical.
Hundred dollar is not going to kill me for sure.......especially if it adds to Slickdeals bottom line and helps keep Slickdeals afloat.

That is why there is a forum and email support where anyone can post their questions. It is not reasonable to assume that the rebate takes 8 weeks to process and that we are busy due to the holidays when the rebate is from September.
As for $100, we do not keep that and do not benefit whether one's rebate is approved or not.

Obviously, it was my bad. Here is what I had explained up in this conversation (not sure if you saw that).........

Dude, you messed up. Just own up and move on, you aren't entitled to rebate that you don't follow the rules for.

You're not going to get special treatment by trying to bully and condescend to the rebate team. They were more than reasonable and I hope you realize that you are the one being unreasonable here. CAPS LOCK DOESNT GET YOU WHAT YOU WANT

I'm only chiming in because this is not a representative or helpful experience to share. The rebate process works great when you follow the instructions that they repeatedly stress you follow. I'm glad to hear that they reached out several times when there was an issue instead of dropping it entirely, but otherwise all this tells us is "Follow the rules". That's extremely reasonable.
