I just bought the Rigid version, then walked into Rockler to see this extremely similar item for $20 less, plus a $60 gift card.

https://www.rockler.com/triton-ts...elt-sander

It's a woodworking tool helpful for bulk sanding with the belt sander or sanding curves with the spindle sander. It oscillated to more evenly use the sandpaper. It also has a built in adjustable table to use as a reference surface to ensure flatness or your desired angle.

Good deal if you need something else from Rockler anyway.

The Triton has a cast iron table, not all of these clones do. Anyone know if it suffers the same belt tracking issues as the Rigid version?

Edit - Some Rockler reviews confirm poor belt tracking.

That's too bad. Having a osicllating spindle and belt sander in one is a great concept for a small shop.

I like my Ridgid one that's similar but the table on mine is aluminum. Cast would be nice

Some comments suggest that the supplied belt was causing the tracking issue.
Hard to tell with these machines, so many copies out there. Even the reviews of the newer versions rigid machines have issues compared to the older production ones.

Had the Wen version (I believe identical to to the Triton) and returned it due to some tracking 'vibration' issues with the belt. Have been eyeing the Rigid for a while hoping its better - just a bit gun shy. For 'non-belt' models, my CM from Harbor freight has been solid.

No place in listing could I find, I went to site's questions and answers to find belt size... 4" x 24" ..... 400 watts is not much power for that big of a belt, but probably ok for the spindle part. In perspective, my Makita 4 x 24 sander pulls 1300 watts. Rockler has some good stuff mixed in with a lot of rebranded junk and all pricey without a sale.

I purchased this from Rockler a few weeks ago when it was at $259 plus a $60 gift card. Turns out Rockler does not do price adjustments even if it was purchased less than 7 days prior. I can confirm the belts are 4" x 24". I haven't had any issues with the belt tracking. After previously owning the Ridgid one that was nothing but problems, I think this one is much better quality (because it friggin works). The dust collection sucks though. Dust collects from the end that doesn't have the dust collector.

Buy a new one and return that new unopened one with the old receipt.

Apparently if you purchase online, stores can deny it and they'll only issue a store gift card. It wasn't worth the pain for $30. Personally I think their policies are stupid. What company doesn't allow online items to be returned to the physical store?
