Pea Coats are one of the most popular styles. This is a wool blend which is a mid to light weight and it is US fit somewhere between a relax fit and fittted so it is neither too big or too tight in it's cut.

I have this coat, definitely worth $25. It's not the best but for the price it's excellent.

I've posted this in the other threads, but consider it a warning:

SlickDeals has been overrun with these posts today, Alpine Swiss is a "look-a-like-brand/copycat" brand, meant to make you think it's the premium brand, https://www.swissgear.com/

They copied the swiss name and the logo to look like swissgear.

Notice how there's no physical company address on the website, everything magically has incredible perfect reviews, etc ... I'd STRONGLY avoid.

How's the warmth level? Anything that even mentions thin makes me nervous

Why do you need a coat to pee in ?
Pea, not pee. You can eat it for sustenance if you get stranded, just make sure to keep a few butter packets in the pockets.

Fair enough. However, to their credit, their reviews are collected through TrustPilot which is reputable and used by several well-known companies.

I agree with most everything you say, but I wouldn't necessarily equate copycat brands with low quality, look at Zara and Forever 21. Sometimes it's about whether you want to shelve out top dollars to pay a premium for the original design/brand or whether you just want a decent quality knockoff product at a much lower price point. I do believe in supporting original designs and copyrights, but sometimes the price is just ridiculous. If some company is able to copy iPhone pro 12 at 90% quality and functionality, I can't say I wouldn't go for that if the price point is attractive. There's a fine line between brand loyalty and being price gouged.

I've bought Alpine Swiss stuff before and they are ok quality. As long as you don't get fooled by their "retail" price, I think you'll be ok. This particular coat looks a bit ugly tho.

So. the thing with purchasing coats online.... Do you buy true to size or do you size up? Normal winter weather you are more likely to wear layers underneath.. anybody got any suggestions on this?

It is a little thin compared to other pea coats but I personally don't mind, it runs a little big so you can always wear a hoodie or thicker sweater under it
