This seems like a great deal if you are in need of one and have the ability to install it yourself or know someone who can.

It doesn't get much easier than installing an opener. No need to hire someone, especially of only swapping it out.

I'd be so jealous I bought it a few weeks ago and still haven't had time to put it up.

Mostly OOS near me. A couple locations 45 min away are "Limited Stock".... aka, not worth the chase. Great find if you can find it though!

I found the model above this one for $128 a week ago. I wonder if that one was marked down again?

I was thinking it shouldn't be too difficult, but have also heard it is better to have a company do it so that it is certified and correct.

This is the one that was on sale black friday for $99. Based on the reviews I read, they bring it back every black friday for $99. I installed mine in November and it's been great so far. It replaced my 18 year old chain drive opener where the wireless stopped working consistently.

For a comparison, I installed a chamberlain belt drive at a different house about 10 years ago. The genie is much smaller and doesn't seem as well built, but only time will tell. As a side note, the belt on that chamberlain snapped a few months back and I had to find a replacement ($60 msrp).

As far as installation goes, if you can read instructions and are relatively handy, it's easy. It's not nearly as hard or dangerous as installing a garage door (with their loaded springs).

If you heard that it's better to "have a company do it", you probably heard that from "a company". Smilie

Not sure that a "certified" garage door installation is even a thing. As for doing it correctly, it's pretty straightforward and generally well-documented in the instructions. It's definitely not rocket science.
