I just chatted with newegg agent. This item can be returned within 30 days for refund but no clarity on any warranty after 30 days nor on the return label?!

This item is being sold by General Procurement. The return policy can be found here: https://www.newegg.com/General-Pr...ion=return

and it's not great. 10-15% restocking fee depending on whether or not the item has been opened. Users also must RMA the item on their own dime.

That coupled with the fact that this thing only has about 2 years of support left make me question my purchase. I'm hoping it's worth it but we'll see. After 2 years I plan to run linux or cloudready on it.

What's the service end date (whatever that's called) on this machine? Anyway to tell prior hand?

The internals in this seem really similar to the Lenovo 100e. I wonder what the difference is between the mt8173 vs mt8173c...

Wondering if the screen is worth the $50 bucks more vs the last lenovo 100e deal from microcenter/walmart...
The difference is the 8173 is clocked at 2.0ghz and the 8173C is clocked at 2.1ghz. So basically a tiiiiny overclock. That said, the ports are the exact same as the Lenovo 100E so I am guessing they're using the same board which is nice because I love my 100E but hate the screen (still can't find a 1080p panel to replace it with)

Another user posted this. Apparently support ends in June 2025. That's actually much better than I thought. Could've swore I saw it only had 2-3 years support somewhere.

An entry level chromebook is designed to stream on YouTube or Netflix, answer emails, do some reading, etc., If you're trying to photoshop or any of the other more intensive programs, you need to look elsewhere. It's $160. If you're spending $800-1000 on the newer smartphones, what do you think a $160 laptop will get you?

Anyone know for sure if ram is soldered on this thing? That is typically the case, but wishful thinking it is upgradable.

found review note saying it did not appear to be upgradable, ram or storage.

now I am wondering if this has or will get linux on chromebook support. apparently all new chromebooks will get this. guessing this does not have it...

I'm impressed with the 100e I picked up from microcenter. Pretty snappy unit.
I am too which is why this chromebook is calling out to me. If it's as snappy as a 100e but with a 14 inch full HD ips screen then I'm in. Smilie

Good to know! I suspect it's the same board too. Just like you, I like my 100e but the Poin2 checks the full HD/ips check boxes......are you getting one? LMAO

Also available on Amazon for $168 with no tax.

Mine was delivered today and I'm having a issue with the Play Store. When I click install on the apps I want to download it does nothing. Really weird. Tried to troubleshoot from some searches I did online, reboot, powerwash, clear cache and still not working.
