Am I the only one who has no problem washing the cast iron pans with dish detergent? Although I do heat it up and wipe with oil afterward. The seasoned layer is pretty tough and can't be wiped away by the sponge scrubber (at least on mine anyway). Ever try to clean off the burned grease on your toaster oven with dish soap and water - that's the same seasoned stuff and it is pretty impossible to remove without Easy Off.
I use stainless steel wool and water to clean anything that sticks.

Lodge states on their website that it's OK to use dish liquid soap on their cast iron. They even made a video of cleaning their cast iron with dish liquid.

These are horrible quality! I just purchased one at Walmart and had to return it. I was trying to save $5 and it wasn't worth it (the Lodge was $9.88 and this cheap crap was like $4.86 for the 8 inch). The first time I used it, I cooked an egg and it was a disaster.

Save your time. While the pan is hot or after you're done cooking get it hot again, put some room temperature water in it and watch all of the crud boil away and just scrape it with a metal spatula. This also cools the pan down, which means within a few minutes you can wipe them down with oil and put them back on the Shelf. Nothing to it.
What? You don't clean it with soap and water? Just kinda scrape it off? Also would it warp if you quench it with water while it's hot?

No warping at all and sometimes I'm using ice cold water on a smoking hot pan (if I happen to have a glass of water while I'm cooking). Water gets 95% of all caked on crud off. Every once in a while I need to use a scrubber and some Dawn (which does not impart any flavor like you hear sometimes). Then just wipe it down with oil and you're done.

You apparently didn't season it after you bought it...
