My game of the year for sure. Wish the Souls type games were more like this game. Hard in some areas, but not to the point where you want to give up.

Was the difficulty a factor? Did you play on Normal instead of easy?

so if you're a big Star Wars fan but only a casual gamer do yourself a favor and watch this one on YouTube. This game is extremely frustrating from start to finish so much so that I gave up on it 2/3rds of the way through - it was that bad,

I'm guessing most others have followed this game more so then I. Did a quick google to determine if it was multiplayer and found out that answer is a solid no.

That said I have enough other games that I don't play enough. I oberserved the Battlefront games fall in price like a rock and they are multiplayer. Seems to me that usually most multiplayer games you need to get in much quicker or the scene tends to die out. Being single player I think I can wait and can foresee the price dropping to mid 20's relatively quickly. For those heavier gamers that can't wait and are in the Starwars hype right now this doesn't. look bad.

This game was great. Great story, great gameplay. It's a cross between Dark Souls and Far Cry. Similar mechanics as sekiro but no where near as hard or as punishing. If you are new to this genre or style of game, don't expect to just pick it up and hack N' Slash your way through it. The game will punish you for doing that. The reward comes when you finally master the mechanics.

I played on Easy. Your average encounters with storm troopers you can sort of do whatever you want.

But my god - the platforming and the boss fights ate just merciless.

I played it for basically 2 days straight, tried to come back to it a week later and just decided I have better things to do with my time.

FWIW, I loved and still love The Force Unleashed - easily one of my favorite games of all time.
I kinda agree with you (playing on PC, nearing the final chapter). It's a slow burn for me. And in my opinion better to play in short sessions. The boss battles can be rage-quit worthy, but dumbing the difficulty down to "Story Mode" for a boss battle ensures a painlessly easy victory every single time.

What bothers me more than the spike in difficulty is the backtracking. I don't want to dance through the same small world/map every single time.

That said, I think the different worlds and environments are very creative and appreciate the pretty environments. I especially like the larger enemy boss battles (not so much The Sisters). Gameplay wise, it's not as good as The Force Unleashed. That made you feel like a Jedi badass with your abilities. Fallen Order is more of a balance of your skills.

Really short game, I'd honestly buy physical over digital. I bought at launch and finished in a single weekend, around 15 hours of gameplay from start to finish just going through the story. Another 10 hours or so to 100% the game (secrets powers etc no real side missions), there is no NG+ or anything so once you 100% the game you are pretty much done forever. It trades in pretty well into gamestop, at launch weekend they actually gave you $60 in trade credit for the entire weekend which is why I rushed through it.

I enjoyed it, its not anywhere close to top tier single player game but it was fun and on easy it really wasn't that difficult. Some of the jumping stuff as said above was a bit frustrating, I died at least 10-15 times on some of the stupid "slide down mud/water/etc" puzzles but you get it eventually. I never really got good at the combat but you don't need to on easy.

This is one of the favorite games. Played in Jedi Master difficulty. It is challenging but fun. I payed $50 for it and don't regret it a bit. Highly recommended.

Awesome deal Thanks. It really drives me nuts when people talk about being hard and having to quit. That's what's wrong with this world today. I want games like the old school ones where they were hard as crap and you had to work at it. Everyone these days wants something easy. Life is not easy.

TLDR - I'd recommend buying the physical version so you can at least sell it if you finish it or get sick of it. Looks like it is $45 on Amz and target

Got this for Xmas on PS4. Looks great but it's frustrating. Dark Souls + Uncharted (or maybe Tomb Raider) style platforming. It is frustrating in parts, and I usually can only play for about 2 hours before I get sick of dying. And you will die a ton. And it sucks when you have to respawn and it kicks you back to the last save point, but at least you don't have to totally start the level over (like Bloodborne).

I'm playing on Easy and am fully prepared to go down to story mode for the boss battles. Even the stupid stormtroopers can be challenging if there are a bunch of them.

True, but I play games to try to relax and forget about my real world troubles for a while. And when a game makes me want to throw the controller at the screen in frustration, I am not relaxing. I couldn't finish Bloodborne either, I rage quit that after trying 200 times.
And I don't love the platforming all the time, it gets old. Was one of my main gripes with Uncharted 4, the constant wall climbing and jumping around. This game is just OK. Oh and if you don't like the Shameless/Joker actor, you're not going to love him in this either.

edit - Cameron Monaghan, I had to look it up. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm11857..._=tt_cl_t7

I really want to like this game and will continue to play it but damn is it hard. It isn't challenging, just unforgiving because of the loose controls during battles and cheap shots. Enemies are creative though but the controls and health damage makes that a mute point.

That aside since you can play it on easy mode, the lack of fast travel really kills the game. The worlds are huge which is great but they are like mazes and you get lost or locked to an area that requires you to run around the map instead of backtrack where you know you need to be.

Even on the second planet, I wanted to get to a secret section I missed. Fine, I go there and realize that the way I took to get there (right next to the ship) is a one way drop. You can't go back. So now what should be a 5 minute trek is now going to take 30 minutes to go all the way around the map to reach back where I was. Who the hell decided it was a good idea to not have fast travel even at the save points in the game.

I don't understand how this game is getting 9s and 10s. Maybe people are just starved for a good game since we haven't had a great AAA game (Death Stranding aside) this year so any decent game is being praised.

I would still play this game but have very low expectations.

Got this with the XBox one I bought. Is it good or should I try to flip it on eBay?
