My understanding is a slower charge is generally better for batteries. Ultimately it's heat that harms batteries and more current = more heat, but you're right, wireless chargers aren't as efficient, there's some current loss in the wireless conversion.
A slower charge for a battery that's designed to handle additional current when below a certain percentage does nothing but waste time.

Fast charge capable phones have intelligent charge controllers that don't keep the current at maximum once they reach roughly 10-15% of their total capacity.

It's more of a curved grade, which is why that last bit of charging to 100% takes comparatively longer.

As for hurting the battery, prolonged excessive heat is the worst, but that typically exceeds any temperature charging is capable of. If your phone is constantly hot, there's something wrong with the phone — not the charger.

Aren't gonna let a $12 charger mess up my $600 phone.
Anker is pretty well regarded, but your point is fair enough.

They make a $50 charger if that makes you more comfortable.

Yes, but fast charging generated more heat, which is bad for the battery.

I think the point is that if you're charging overnight then it doesn't matter that it'll take 5 hours to charge vs 1.5 and you might as well go slower for battery health.

I use one of these by the bedside: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Char...00P936188?

EDIT: I should say that I'm not sure it's that exact one but one of the similar ones.

Grabbed this about a month ago for use at work and have enjoyed it. Almost want to pick another one up for the nightstand at home!

You should never charge anything while you sleep, fire hazard.
Make sure to unplug all major appliances and any heating or cooling as well. Never know what could happen. Better yet, just flip the breaker before bed. Just in case.

Mine will only charge now if I put the phone on one side of it; owned for one year.
Typical Anker quality, mine died after exactly 1y (out of warranty)...

This isn't particularly true for the adaptive charging techs, and is nearly negligible on the lower power chargers that lack adaptive charging capability. Charging at anything below 2A of current on non-adaptive chargers isn't going to generate enough heat to noticeably degrade the batteries on _most_ current phones compared to 2A itself, which is pretty commonly the current that non-adaptive charging techs work at. The idea behind the adaptive charging techs isn't just to allow a quicker charger; it's to prevent the excess heat buildup as the battery approaches full.

Also, and this is entirely subjective, but I personally don't use the wireless stands like this for overnight charging. That's a time when the convenience of the angle the phone sits at is completely worthless to me. This kind of stand is what I would prefer at a desk. But, again, that's subjectivity.

He'd complain with a $200 charger as well.

I'll give it a go with my iPhone X. Wife keeps stealing my lightning cables and her phone is too old for Qi, so this is the charger for me!
