Fine looking watch. That said, I am always looking to add to my small collection of Swiss watches and for whatever reason, the Montblanc brand generates little interest from buyers. I know there are many fine watches out there, but for some reason these don't get much buzz and used prices are soft.

I'm going to guess it's a mix of fairly generic designs, price that starts to reach into Omega territory, and the lack of history of watchmaking. I understand that watch fans buy watches for themselves, but there's something to be said for the recognition from someone else on noticing your watch. I can't imagine Montblanc's get much attention beyond "oh they make watches now?"

Montblanc is a luxury brand, doesn't really have much heritage in watchmaking. This watch is a modified (probably only slightly) ETA 2893. For this price and a little more, I would say go for a Longines or Tag. This movements won't be much more impressive but the brands still have some cache in watch industry and will continue to do marketing thus maintaining resale value.

Not completely true. They are leveraging minerva know-how and movements for most of their high end piece. That being said this watch most likely has modified Sellita caliber.

This watch literally has montblanc caliber mb 24.05 which is based on a ETA 2893.

Montblanc has mostly switched to sellita from ETA around 2016 (if I am not wrong, google it) and I was disagreeing with the doesn't really have much heritage in watchmaking part - through Minerva they have tons of heritage

I'm not sure why XaaX is being downvoted. He's correct, this watch has a sellita but Montblanc does have the Minerva history.

With that being said, I had this watch for about 6 months. It's a cool watch, most notable the hollowed lugs and the AR Crystal is brilliant. Not as glorious as my Breitling, but pretty impressive.

If the design speaks to you, it's a decent price for a GMT/UTC

Does anyone who would pay this much for a simple watch use this site?
Im considering buying it and obviously i use this sight. 1000 for a watch is something i save for. My Hamilton XWind was over 1000

That's actually very surprising. Typically, people who spend $1,000 on a wrist watch aren't the type of folks who have to consciously save up for a while in order to afford them. But good on ya

Montblanc is owned by richemont who owns alot of watchmaking brands including jlc, iwc and a.lange who also sometimes use eta movements and sell for much more.

Speaking of being unknown, there are brands that aren't known for making watches like LV, Gucci etc who would be in the same boat.

Thirdly, being unknown isn't necessarily bad. A significant number of people who would not know what a.lange but it doesn't mean they are not fantastic watches. Buy a watch for your purpose - be it fashion, perceived status, as a timepiece or just because it makes you happy.
