Different product, these are meant to replace tears, so for people that suffer regularly from dry eyes, recovering from laser eye surgery (me), etc. Overusage of regular visine drops can over time, actually dry out your eyes.

I'm an ophthalmologist and think something got lost in translation re/ that statement that this drop cannot be used on an as-needed basis. That simply is not true, nor is it true of any brand of artificial tear. They can ALL be used on as as-needed basis. Got some dust in your eye and just want to put in a drop or two for immediate relief? No problem.

Perhaps what the optom was trying to communicate is--- if you have dry eye syndrome, you will likely need multiple doses of artificial tears, spread out across an entire day, to keep the symptoms in check and prevent the typical build-up of dryness and associated symptoms of same as the day goes on.

It's nice to have some artificial tears on hand for those occasional as-needed situations, but if you're not going to be using this drop 3-4x/day or more, keep this in mind: a single 15ml bottle, used four times a day in both eyes, will last you roughly 6 weeks once opened. If you're just using it on an as-needed basis, it might last much longer than that. Since this is a bottled artificial tear, that means it contains added preservatives to retard bacterial or fungal contamination. Generally such preservatives work well, but once the bottle is opened and is in daily use, it's likely that eventually some resistant organism will get in there, overwhelm the preservative and make the bottle go bad. For this reason, personally I don't keep open bottles of artificial tears (especially large bottles like this, which might take me a long time to finish) in my own medicine cabinet much longer than 2 or 3 months, max. You can deter spoilage somewhat by keeping open bottles in the fridge, but even there, I would not want to assume a bottle is sterile 5 or 6 months after it was opened.

Thumbs up for the OP on this very good deal. FYI I'm getting a final S&S price (with 15% S&S discount) of $13.73 for four bottles total.

I had prk recently and started using the individual vials, love em. Will never use any other kind of drop in a bottle ever again, the individual vials are the way to go, no preservatives.

Any deals on Refresh Relieva? Local place and amazon both charge around $20 for a tiny bottle.

FYI, your insurance may cover this through your eye doc or regular doc. I have very dry eyes and allergies and get mine from the V.A.

I'm getting $11.59 per pack of 2 x 2 = 4 bottles = $23.18 total

Not $14.64 for 4 bottles. What am I doing wrong?

Must be expired.
