Well Espresso is a completely different kind of drink so I'm not sure how that is relevant. I can't sip on an espresso for long periods of time like I can with drip coffee.

But yea, those that enjoy espresso should probably not invest in an expensive drip coffee machine. Buy a fancy automatic espresso machine instead.

Apples to oranges and all that Jazz.

Crap, just paid full price for one of these over the Holidays - got the glass carafe version. Love it so far...replaced a Cuisinart that I had for most of the past decade but had no idea that I was drinking crappy coffee. Same beans I always used but the MoccaMaster brews such a better cup and it is amazing how it brews an entire pot in 4 minutes.

A couple of things to beware of:
1) No automatic timer (brews fast so not a huge deal)
2) European Pot - brews 10 european cups which is like 7-8 cups on an American machine; we are finding in the first few days that we have to brew a pot and a half
3) Power cord is very thick and clunky...this thing looks great on the countertop except for the cord which you cannot hide

This a great deal for a coffee maker that your kids will fight over after you're gone.

See...I make before work and drink within about 30 mins..wife too. Went with glass. Heard the stainless can be a pain to clean. Eitherway, I'll be happy. I almost bought for 299 before Christmas thinking it was a good deal. I had a bonavita but the carafe broke. They had discontinued making the carafe but recently brought it back. I may just take that to work and buy a replacement carafe. My inlaws bought us a mr coffee which was very kind of them as I was being cheap and lazy about buying a new maker and just using my aeropress. Which becomes a pain in the ass to make coffee for 2 people. Can't wait to roast some beans to try this out.

What's the difference between the KB and KBG? And is one better than the other?

Estimated 5,500 pots and works exactly like the day I bought it.

I like the KBG better, downsized from the metal carafe KBT and that bottom plastic base sheet that falls off. Also, the metal carafe does not hold the heat in.

Only make what I'm about to drink, so just turn the power off when it's done. Agree though, old leftover coffee on the hot plate is N/G, even the KBG is not perfect. Still both are the best coffee makers I've ever owned!

The old KBT is just sitting in the basement now. Anyone want a used Moccamaster Smilie
