This. Made the mistake of baking with this and oven started to smoke quickly. Use parchment paper instead.

You can bake with it if it is entirely covered by the food product- like lining a cake pan with it and then pouring cake batter in over it. Nowadays parchement paper is more commonly used for this purpose though.

If rolling out cookie or pie crust wax paper is great- one layer under the dough and one between the dough and rolling pin and there's no need for extra flour to prevent sticking.

It can also be used if a something needs to be chilled for one reason or another, especially if it's a cookie dough that will be sliced later- it's pretty easy to shape the dough into a log, wrap the waxed paper around it and press it tight and secure the ends- then once the recommended time has passed it'll be already in the shape needed and it'll be easy to get out of the paper.

My ignorance needs to ask (there are probably others wondering also I hope), what are the top uses for this if not baking? I always thought that was the main use

Also use this to make playground sliding boards MUCH faster by rubbing them down with the waxy side!

My favorite use is to cover things that I am reheating in the microwave.

There's several listed on the back of the box.

From the back of the box: "Line bottom of cake pans for easy removal after baking".

Is that not baking?
