Because we couldn't find a time machine on sale.

To be honest unless you're in a place where you've actually experience surges regularly it probably won't make any difference. And if you're in an area where surges happen. None of these units will probably cut it at this price level.

It's more a feel good thing.

Looks like a useful product, I could not find if it was UL or ETL certified, from questions on Amazon, it does not appear to be.

Definitely like the more spacious design between the outlets.

Is this that good a deal? Granted it lacks the USB ports, right-angle plug and generous spacing, the Amazon Basic surge protectors offer a higher joule rating and cost less ($15 for 8 outlet and $20 for 12 outlet).

Normal price. This was on sale for $10 a week ago I believe but I missed the deal so I ended up paying $22 shipped from Newegg. My only complaints are that the power button is cheap feeling, and the USB outlets are 1A each, not 3A.. ie no fast charging...Oh well, $20 isn't so bad for a surge protected power strip.

Too bad...this is not suitable for international travel and only compatible with 100-144V outlets.

Keep in mind this has a flat plug, I haven't seen the Amazon Basics that have been on sale with one.
