are there any benefits to getting a router if my old reliable refurbed wireless N router has been working for years with almost never a need to reset it?
Speed may be significantly better but might be irrelevant if your ISP speed is slow and you don't transfer files over LAN

I had 2 different store managers tell me they cannot price match even their own website. I thought it was ridiculous and chatted with Walmart.com and they confirmed what the managers stated. Tried to read over the policy online about price matching and couldn't find anything about in store price matching just matching online. But since then, I have been to other Walmarts and was able to price match from their site just fine. And yes it was sold and shipped from them. So depends on store I guess

Price Match Policy

We will match Walmart.com and Jet.com base price, for identical items purchased in a Walmart store.

The customer must inform the associate of the price
The item must be currently in-stock on Walmart.com at the time the Price Match is requested
We reserve the right to verify the price and the availability of the identical item (i.e., size, model, quantity, brand, or color, etc.)
· If the register prompts for supervisor approval, the supervisor must verify the price and availability of the identical item (i.e., size, model, quantity, brand, or color, etc.), by logging onto the Walmart.com website through a store terminal, before the price will be matched.
We reserve the right to limit quantities to one-per-customer, per item, per day
Quantities are limited in New Mexico only for the purchase for resale

We do not match:

Prices from Walmart Marketplace Retailers or the Marketplace Retailers of competitors, third-party sellers, auction sites, or sites requiring membership
Bundle offers, Instant Rebates, Mail-in Offers, Offers that include financing, Advertisements that require a purchase to receive a gift card, Percentage Off, or Buy One Get One Free advertisements without a specified price
Prices from other Walmart or Neighborhood Market stores
Competitor advertised price

The Price Match offered above is not available in Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

The manager on duty as the final decision on any Price match.

Walmart reserves the right to modify the terms of this policy at any time.

This policy applies only to purchases made at a US Walmart store. For details on the Price Match Policy for purchases made on Walmart.com, please see Walmart.com.

This indicates NAS. How reliable are these to function as NAS - if a external HD is hooked to it?

It's a wireless router not a modem. It will work with whatever ISP you have.
Thank you very much for that information.

I'm keeping my original ac1900 Nighthawk.
Works great. Can't kill it.
I have 25 separate connections running 24/7 including my Plex Server
I concur. The best router I've ever had and I've had many.

$59 and 6+ in stock supposedly at the Walmart a mile from my house. I have the Asus RT-AC68U AC-1900 not sure if it's even worth it to get this.

That's how I feel about my Asus AC1900, I've had it since 2013 or so.

That is not true. They do not match their own website online price. I have tried it once and got rejected at the cashier.
They are supposed to, but probably told not to do it. If you show them (sadly) their own website with their price matching rules and policies they will have to do it.

My local store shows $99, even though it is $89 online. They are supposed to have 10, by their own in stock search. But, they couldn't find any. I told them about the 89 online, the other store @ $59, 40 miles away. All he said was that's a good deal, & if you can get it, to go there.

More reliable with 3rd party firmwares? LoL...

I can tell you enjoy being a lab rat testing 3rd party firmware and all its problems. Funny kid, get a job and see how the WiFi engineers work.
Lol agreed. I'd like to see people run aftermarket firmware on meraki or Aruba aps.
