Got an offer to earn 70,000 miles when I spend $2,000 within 3 months. I've never had an Amex CC, but have had plenty of prior rewards cards (southwest, marriott, chase, etc). We are shooting for a trip to Hawaii at the end of April. Flights are ~35,000 miles or $550 roundtrip. So this card would fully cover the trip...and essentially be $1100 free money (-$95 annual fee, but that's cancelled out by getting the free bag check).

Looks like a good deal, but my question is, how fast is Amex about giving you your bonus miles? Do they wait till the end of 3 months to apply to your account, or do they credit it after the statement closes that you hit $2,000 in spending? I could easily spend $2,000 by the end of January. If they wait till 3 months, it would be mid April and probably too late to book tickets. Anybody have experience with Delta Amex credit card bonuses?

Here's the offer I got, probably targeted though: https://www.deltaamexcard.com/off...rve+80K+EM

I have this same card and only got it about 3 years ago when I was buying RT airfare for the fam to China (e.g. you get multiples of miles back for Delta purchases). IIRC miles posted immediately after/with the culmination of $2k spent.

As far as after the bonus, it's just like any other AE card but with Delta benefits. Offers are similar to other AE cards.

Thanks for the post! I'm hoping it'll post quickly...but was concerned when I saw in the terms that bonus miles take 8-12 weeks to post to the account. Amex T&C seem super anal compared to past chase/citibank cards I've had. Looks like they require you to keep the card open for 12 months otherwise they can pull your bonus miles back.

I have the business card. I pretty sure mine posted quick.

a bit off topic, I used my Cap1 Venture card to pay for TSA preCheck since it says on the TSA website that card will refund your fee.

I had a txt message that day saying it'll be refunded, and another txt days later saying it refunded me

for those that hate spelling mistakes www.walmarts.comCool

bulb save money by checking your insurance every 2 years (and not every 20) Thanks Liberty Mutual for reminding me to shop. The $842 increase this year sums it up. Across the board increase for Ohio....whatever

I reupped my global entry last fall with a card that promised a refund as a benefit (I believe it was a Chase IHG brand card) and suprisingly enough, it actually did. I thought I'd have to file some paperwork but the credit went through same statement.

I opened this same card last year, the points seemed to have posted immediately after spending $2K I was quite surprised they didn't wait for some kind of closing date. My offer waived the fee for the first year.

Wow thanks everyone. I wonder if it's worth a shot to try to get the points in time then. I was just concerned about the 8-12 week wording for posting points...but looks like many of you got it quickly!

Just verified - looked at my very first statement from 3 years ago; bought about $4k in Delta tickets:

Welcome Bonus: 28000
Triple Miles Bonus: 32000
Double Miles on Delta: 4098

Obviously the 2 bonuses totaled the 60k sign on (apparently that was my bonus at the time, I don't recall the min spend

Thank you, so the bonus miles posted to your account within the first statement? That is promising if so.

Yes, the statement with the first (large) purchase which also happened to be the very first statement of the card too.

Awesome thanks for the help. This seems like a way easier and faster deal than the southwest card. I've had the southwest cards in the past to get the companion pass...but now that they've up'd the requirements to 125k miles and you can only get one card...it makes it much more difficult to get there. Makes me wonder why the southwest card deal is so popular???
