Probably can build a custom one for much cheaper if no need for the cabinet. Just some shiplap and come frame and sanded plys. Maybe a day of work plus $50 material
you are crazy. I've made one for my entry (built in) and that's a ridiculous statement.

I would have bought one for $300 in a heartbeat

Where are you buying your wood?
A sheet of Furniture grade Ply is over $70

Even 1 sheet MDF is going to cost you that $50 before you get to your $2 a linear foot Ship Lap.

I agree, someone hasnt gone to the lumber yard in 15 years minimum. It's expensive for the mats alone, let alone time.

Anyone else scan this post's title more than two times before realizing a 'hall tree' is a thing? The things you learn on Slickdeals...
I'm just excited that I learned this term today. My wife and I had been trying to shop for things like this a while back, but never new the proper search terms. Now we know. And knowing is half the battle.

Particle board with cams - recipe for really bad temporary use build quality. Junk flat pack furniture has really hurt the furniture industry.

I have been looking for something like this but these are too expensive for me. I just got an email from Wayfair about tree halls. Check out some of theirs that are on sale here [wayfair.com]. Smilie

The full size one (in brown and I think black) was down to $600 as recently as like three weeks ago. I had my eye on it but waited too long. Now it's "on sale" for $824. I'll wait for it to go to $600 and probably pounce. At that price, it seems like a very good value and has plenty of storage.

This isn't a deal at all. Just look up benches, hall trees, whatever you want to call it. There's many similar for under $200. I was looking at these a year or so ago. Regular price on these at Home Depot then was definitely under $300. These never sold for $600. I ended up buying a better bench for under $100 then just bought some inexpensive hooks for jackets. To me looks much better. Also with a setup like this once you hang your jackets on it, you can't really use the bench.
So true. So much paid advertising junk on the front page of sd.

I'm custom building ours with my woodworking brother-in-law and you're right. The shiplap alone (from Lowe's) is over $100 alone. Furniture grade plywood (Baltic Burch or maple) is $70+ (not from Lowe's) per sheet. It's going to be $400-500 in materials alone + sweat equity when it's all said and done, and we're not building anything super sophisticated. If you don't need something permanent, this seems like a decent deal.

Look at this product! I just used it for the back of my mudroom wall and it looks great! https://www.lowes.com/pd/MURdesign-48-in-x-8-ft-Beaded-White-Birch-MDF-Wainscot-Wall-Panel/1000580345
