1st barcode = shows value to cs rep - if trying to determine value but not yet ready to pay

2nd barcode = your best buy reward member number

3rd barcode = unique one-time use rewards code that will give you the discount

** Cashier needs to scan 2nd & 3rd barcode when making the actual purchase (1st barcode won't do anything)

The value of #1 and #3 are the same (dollar-wise) but different codes for different purposes

1st barcode values
06613 = $5 (most common code)

Got emails in Nov and Dec but nothing in January. Curious if anyone is getting rewards more than $5?

Does no one know anyone who works in marketing? People who spend money are going to whether or not they get $5 free. The $5 is to get people who haven't spent much lately in to likely spend more than $5. Very easy marketing to understand. It's amazing all the posts about "I've spent so much why don't I get $5". Simply because why the hell do they need to entice you into the store. Come on everyone. Have some common sense.

The key to getting the email is to not spend money on an account. I have one account I use all the time and one that has been used once or twice in the last 6 years. The one I don't use got the email yesterday at 3:30am.

Never get these. I spent like 3k at BB over the past year too. At least I'm not missing out on much.

I didn't get any email. This is probably some marketing ploy. The certificates are all probably $5 with a few that are more. Probably the $5000 doesn't exist. They can make up stuff since no one will know.

I spend probably several hundred dollars a year at BB and I have never once got one of these mystery code emails!
Me neither. It really sucks. Just spent over 300 on hue products in December smh

Y'all have to check your email and marketing preferences on your BBY account, if you didn't receive this mystery coupon.

Of course the odds of getting $5,000 are low. They can't just be giving away tons of money to everyone. And they're not going to break the law and advertise up to $5,000 and not give it out, but tons of people who actually win the $5,000 probably ignore the email.

The odds are directly in the email. "Distribution/Odds: (8) 250,000 My Best Buy Points worth $5,000 in My Best Buy program reward certificates. Odds: 1 in 500,000. (80) $500 Offer Certificate: An Offer Certificate valid for $500 off the purchase of $500 or more. Odds: 1 in 50,000. (400) $100 Offer Certificate: An Offer Certificate valid for $100 off the purchase of $100 or more. Odds: 1 in 10,000. (800) $50 Offer Certificate: An Offer Certificate valid for $50 off the purchase of $50 or more. Odds: 1 in 5,000. (1,000) $20 Offer Certificate: An Offer Certificate valid for $20 off the purchase of $20 or more. Odds: 1 in 4,000. (10,000) $10 Offer Certificate: An Offer Certificate valid for $10 off the purchase of $10 or more. Odds: 1 in 400. (3,987,712) $5 Offer Certificate: An Offer Certificate valid for $5 off the purchase of $5 or more. Odds: Approximately 1:1."
