Just an FYI - for those who might use these for keys...

Do not trust the little rubber lock nub. I've had mine slip and allow the gate to open.

What I did was put my keys on then take a small straw and fit it over the S-hook portion where your keys are, then jam it all the way on as far as it will go, Cut it off a few mm's above where the gate would close on it. then, smoosh the excess down until the gate can fully close shut, then push the straw all the up until it stops.

I've done this to all three sets of my keys, and for the past 3 years, not one has come close to coming undone.
Pic? might be easier to see it vs describing it

Is it worth it to get the #4 which is rated for 75lbs for an extra $1.20 ($2.94 total)?

The link in Lowes is actually $1.54 for me (CA).

Also found this for $0.99, but it doesn't have the plastic sliders.

**Edit: Adding amazon link to #4.

If you prefer black and in stock for $1.94 on Amazon, here's a link. I just ordered 2 myself.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WUIGYA

EDIT: Just realized the one I linked doesn't have the slide-lock feature. Hopefully the link is still useful to someone.

Well, imagine a straw going from the top of the gate down to the curvature of the s-hook.

I use these all the time and love them because of the locking clips on both ends. Prevents keys from falling off and allows you to still clip on and off with ease on to pants, bags, etc (unlike their other plain Rings with the lock).

Wish they were for the bigger size though.

I always wonder why people who hang these on their pants to hold their keys rather than using the pockets they sit right next to. Not to mention they normally have a phone holster on their belt.
I got into the habit when I worked as a pizza delivery driver over a decade ago - reaching into my pocket hundreds of times a day for my keys was not doing wonders for my cuticles. Now I do it because of the amount of keys I have make my pockets look absurd and it makes it easy to organize them - one pocket for my wallet, one for my phone, and then clip keys to belt loop.

That said, I prefer the #4 for carrying keys. The #2 is a bit fiddly with most belt loops and if you want to have more than 2 or 3 keys on it.

Nice, I can always find uses for these. Picked up a few with slow shipping for the digital credits.

It's only rated for 10 lbs. Only good for light items otherwise it will bend and fall apart. Also mountain climbing carabiners are alot more expensive. Pay extra for it, your life depends on it. Don't cheap out on a few bucks.
That said, if you use one to clip a usb drive to your keys, I suspect it will work just as well on a mountain as not.

Only if you're in rush to get to the very bottom of the mountain, at the fastest speed, from the shortest distance.
