It's just a general rule of thumb per manufacturer as different ambient temperature will affect wattage needed. Watts are watts when it comes to heaters. More about quality than anything else, which is why I passed on this deal personally.

After having a heater malfunction and cook all my fish, I learned to always buy two heaters at half the size you need. I'd never buy one heater like this.

Sous Vide works better if you wish to have a seafood feast because you are tired of cleaning that tank.

I've had numerous Marineland heaters through the years. All have been warranty replacement for each other, as they keep failing - some stuck on, some off. I finally gave up and got an Eheim. The good part is that Marineland honors their lifetime warranty without a fuss.

Even though these are really cheap, if you value your little fishy friends, save your money and get an Ebo Jager. A few dollars saved are not worth it when your cheap heater fails and cooks your tank along with all your fish. Sometimes poor reviews for products don't mean much, but in this case, they are 100% correct.

Get a heater controller on those 2 heaters, then you have real reliability.
