I really want to get a nice set of headphones for my son. He broke the $30 ones I gave him 2 years ago. He is only 11 and he wont care to have cooling on his ears (I don't think). Do you think these are good - when i saw the reviews, they said - standard 7.1 but only focused on the cooling. Also - do you think we need to spend $60 for a decent paid when all he cares about is RBD lighting, reasonable comfortable and decent sound?

I had three of these - one I got for $135 from Amazon, then it dropped to $79 from HP, I got that one; and then days later BestBuy dropped to $49 so I got that one too.

This is $59 from BestBuy, I think it is still good deal.
The only thing bothers me is the headset is a little heavy to me and could be tiresome over long time. The cooling can be very cool to ears - as long as you can avoid touch the cooling surface on the ear, it is very comfortable in the hot day.
The software that controls the cooling and its RGB lighting should be downloading from Microsoft App store in Windows 10. They do enhance its software (HP) over time as my experience.

Looks like this is a fairly heavy headset and microphone is weak.

I got this for $50, and it's a good quality headset for the price. When I speak on it, others have commented how clear I sound, so in my experience the mic quality is actually good. The cooling ears is no gimmick if your ears run hot and get red from padded ears, it really is cold to touch, it feels like there's ice on the other side, so it won't build up heat. I've never had ears getting too hot problem, but it still feels nice to have cooling in that area. The virtual surround sound also helps in BR games. in PUBG, it's much easier to know where shots are coming from now instantly, whereas for stereo you had to move your character around to get a sense of where the sound was coming from. Helps for BR games.

I own a pair of these headsets that came with my HP Omen Obelisk tower deal I got last year. They aren't nearly as comfy as my Astro A50 Gen 3s, but when those die or I forget to charge them, this headset does just fine from a sound and comfort standpoint. The cooling is... okay. When it is hot in the summer it can actually be a bit more comfortable. For $60 I would say these are ok, but not an amazing deal. Just my two cents.

Does the cooling work with Xbox controller? Or is this headphone only for PC? Also in cold days will it be too cold for the ears?

Edit: ah never mind, it's for PC
