Did they own an XPS? XPS is among the best of the best
Literally every review shits in it a bit.

I've had XPS 13 9370 and they are good laptops except the camera on the bottom which they put back to the top starting 9380.

I've had Dell computers for the past 13 years and I quit on them. So many issues and they warranties are like band aid fixes. Seems like a good deal for those that need a laptop but I don't trust them anymore.

You can upgrade any windows 10 home to pro for extra $100 through Microsoft store. Open the store and type upgrade to win 10 pro.

I saw many cheap licenses on ebay for $10 but never tried them.

Unless you absolutely need 4k, I'd stick with the FHD version if you have any interest in battery life. I am regretting my purchase of a 4k xps 7390 with a i7-10710U. 3 hours of runtime under medium load with screen turned all the way down. Paid $1400, will trade for a comparable QHD or FHD Thinkpad!

I have to agree. Spent about the same amount. Great machine. Amazing graphics. Runs awesome. Battery sucks.
OK really good to know it's not just because I'm using Linux. Bought the same on a similar deal. Set up to use Linux Mint, which works fine, even with the Killer wifi and all that. But the 2-3 hour battery lifetime has been quite disappointing. I'd thought power management integration under Windows was just better, but sounds like the problem is instead at the hardware level.

How about the latest XPS 13's on 4K? They're supposed to be better for power, but are they?

And yeah, I know FHD is an option, but not one that interests me. Apple can do retina without butchering power draw that badly, so Dell needs to step up their game.

I do agree with the battery statement here as 4K does have a large impact on overall battery life. However, your run time is extremely short, that almost sounds like you got a faulty unit. Even the XPS 9380 has longer run time than 3 hours with a 4K screen running on an i7-8565U. The only time I've seen battery drain that badly was due to defender going rouge and scanning while trying to compile code.
Sounds like a lot of us got faulty units, then, which in itself tells an unflattering story.

This is also one of the hottest running laptops I've ever had.

The $10 one's work. They are commercial business type that were purchased in bulk and not used or perhaps stolen buy an employee.

Then you have no experience with mass system deployment and support. Dell is like a disposable lighter. Not the good Bic ones, but like the crap at the register, five for a dollar. I manage support for thousands of people in the America's. Give me a Lenovo any day...

Best deal I've seen on a new touchscreen XPS13 with i7 processor - buying these for 5 years for my employer. 512GB SSD is sort of standard for this level XPS13, so this machine at 256GB is a downside. New model with the webcam on top of the screen - no more nostril-cam!

I've owned a XPS 15 9550 and XPS 13 9360 and there's something seriously wrong with the sleep functionality. Basically whenever I closed the laptop lid and put it in my backpack, it frequently wakes by itself and I don't find out until I open my backpack again after which it already baked for a few hours. And now it's happening to my friends 9370 which I regrettably helped her buy. Google it but the general consensus is that it's a windows problem and the only real solution is hibernate or complete shut off. But anyways none of the other laptops I've ever used have this issue. Definitely do not recommend. Recently switched to a Inspiron 7590 so I'm still a fan of Dell

Got the white FHD 9370 loaded around BF time and used it for a couple weeks and it went back. Had weird build issues like the hinge gap and the power button was off center but it was the screen clouding/bleeding and coil whine that forced the return. Didn't want to try my luck with another but have my eye on the new 2020 XPS with the 16:10 aspect ratio. I always go back to my 2015 MBP for that reason and the touchpad.

Also, had the XPS 9343 in 4K years ago and the screen did kill battery life, while windows scaling is subpar.
