Can you really tell that much difference between 4K and 1080p on a 13" screen?

I love my 4k screen, editing pictures is awesome. You can easily see the difference. If that difference is worth the battery life hit, that's up to you.

Got mine 3 years ago, will never go back to <4k

Reviews give the XPS the best of the best ratings. However, myself and 3 other people I know experienced nothing but problems with the XPS line.

My charging port broke after a few months. even after being gentle.

Sounds like a lot of us got faulty units, then, which in itself tells an unflattering story.

This is also one of the hottest running laptops I've ever had.
Wow, you're not kidding! I just did some research and you're right! I had no idea people were reporting such terrible battery life of 3-4 hours on the newest XPS 13" 7390. I'm going to need to take a look at our recent batch of XPS 13" 7390 and see what the battery life is like. Reddit has some post on "fixes" but the only thing that seemed to make sense was disabling the Killer wireless service and under-volt the CPU which is not something anyone should have to do. I wonder if the actual problem is the newest generation of Intel CPUs because the XPS 9380 wasn't that bad in terms of battery life.

If you can manage with this 16:9 screen, this is a good deal

Buy unit
Replace with faster bigger SSD
Replace with Intel AX200 wifi-6 for cheap

Should be a good unit to last along time.
Why wifi 6?

So you can connect better in shopping malls and citywide WiFi hotspot?

Pointless for 99% of people

I'm looking at this thing trying to figure out what makes it a $1700 laptop (original price). It doesn't seem exceptional or anything above average. What an I missing?
DELL does that for all their computers- set a very high price and the put large discounts to make it sound good...

Not really unless you are an ant. Even 2k is enough on a 15.6

You can buy XPS 15 7590 with a similar price from Dell outlet. It comes with 9th gen i7 h cpu + Nvidia GTX 1650 + still one of the best screen on the market after one year + you can swap RAM, SSD or Wi-Fi card if you wish. Downside is QC issues + bad thermals
If you are ready to spend 1k to a laptop please do your research. This one is not worth it IMO, not because it's a bad laptop but you have better options for the same money.

I feel the need to defend Dell. When I got my XPS about 3 years ago, I was hesitant due to Dell's history. My XPS is still tickin at the same level with no major issues. My speakers are a little tinny but according to google, it's an issue with the speaker being loose. Other than that, I still get great battery life and use things like Photoshop without hiccups. I don't feel like I need an upgrade for at least 2 years. XPS is the only line I'd buy from dell.
