Not really unless you are an ant. Even 2k is enough on a 15.6
No, ants have terrible vision, it's motion based and allows for almost no resolution, it's actually miraculous they can perform the tasks they do.

And don't spread misinformation, for someone to miss the difference between 2k and 4k on a standard 15.6" your vision would need to be at 20/70, likely poorer.

I'm looking at this thing trying to figure out what makes it a $1700 laptop (original price). It doesn't seem exceptional or anything above average. What an I missing?
There's a coupon you add to the cart to bring the cost down : LTXPS131AFF

Considering they charge a kidney for a shitty spec'd MBP. 1700 doesn't seem unreasonable. Course a 1000 is a lot better

every one of my co-workers that owns a dell regrets it. nothing but problems. never again for me.
We bought 20 of these for the office as our main PC (with docking stations) and they have been flawless. Exact same model except ours have the bigger SSD. 8+ hours a day running Zoom, Office, Adobe Creative Suite (mostly illustrator, inDesign, and photoshop). They haven't had any issues at all in the 7 months we've been using them. Plus I have been using XPS laptops for well over 10 years with minimal issues.

Xps is the best, it's been a benchmark for Ultrabook for a long time

You cannot replace the wireless card as it is soldered onto the board. I think that started with the XPS 9370 (2017) model. That's probably the two downside of this laptop is that you're stuck with the Killer Wireless chip which is mediocre and the web cam is on the bottom of the screen. Otherwise, it's a decent laptop which you can, as you pointed out, upgrade the SSD fairly easily.

The newest XPS 13" 7930 (2019) does have the newer WIFI 6 wireless chip which is re-branded, but based off the Intel AX200. Also the XPS 2019 model has changed the position of the web cam to be above instead of being on the screen. The battery life is also improved a bit due to the more efficient CPU.
This model has the webcam at the top, so negatives are down to the wireless card (and battery life for this particular 4k model as indicated by others). Wave

Do you know why this is so heavily discounted? Because it is 2019 model. If you can wait for 3 months or so, Wait!
A new killer is just around the corner (in April?).
Asus ROG Zephryus G14 and so on.

But that's 1.6kg vs 1.2kg, and a gaming laptop, not going to be cheap. Different market for different people.

Can you really tell that much difference between 4K and 1080p on a 13" screen?
Yes, I can tell them apart easily.

I bought a fully loaded xps from Costco a couple of years ago 2017 model that had the basically 3k screen and used it for almost 3 months before I took it back to them and bought the brand new 2018 fully loaded model. The 2018 model upgrades to the full 4K screen and it looked noticeably better. The only thing that weighed on me was that the 4K screen uses more energy so it gets less battery life. I got my xps for something like $1400 before tax so this sounds like a great deal (except that my Costco warranty is 4 years).
