TCL must have mispriced Xmas season, cause the floodgates seem to have opened now.

Don't murder me for this question. I have a 47 inch 3d Samsung that is about 8-10 years old. I am wondering if this will feel like an upgrade. I can't return the t.v. without asking for a friends help (wouldn't fit in my car) so I really have to get this right.

Go to a local BB to see first hand, and make the decision based on your experience.

What's TCL? Is it a good TV brand?
It's a Chinese brand that copy cats others like Samsung and stuff. It's cheaper but they also use cheaper parts. Quaility control is non existent. It's a crap shoot if you will get a good panel or not. I bought this exact same model for my kids to use with their gaming consoles. It's OK at best. We have not used it much for watching shows but the little we have it does suffer from motion-blur. Lots of features for the price but as the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for."

Little harsh, but some truth.

Understood but it's tough for me to compare 4k vs a tv that is not 4k. That's the problem I'm having. Bringing it home and watching Fios will be the real moment of truth

Good TV for the money, but it doesn't cure cancer like some people on here would have you believe. Picture quality wise, it beats lower end Samsung 6 and 7 series or lower end LG LED TVs hands down. It's also bright "enough" to do proper HDRs. Input lag is quite low so it's great for gaming. Retro games also look great on it without the annoying scroll shimmering problem I ran into with our old 7 series Samsung TV. Quality control is something I can't comment on, but I have both 2018 and 2019 versions and they're holding up just fine so far. Roku interfaces are fairly smooth on these also.

I've had this TV for about a month and really like it. Colors are excellent! It's a little glossy which causes some glare depending on where I'm sitting.

There's a lot of valid privacy concerns with these TVs (TCL is a brand owned by the Chinese government). What I did was simply attach a 4k Apple TV to it and leave it in "dumb" mode without wifi.

Can get a 65" 2018 6 series for $460 after tax at Best buy in store with coupon right now. Just heads up
Not same TV. Thats 2018 model, not the 55r25 or 65r25.

Just got back from Best Buy to compare quality to other TVs. It's ok, but I really can't justify settling for it when you can just put another couple hundred towards the H9F, or even the Q60. I can foresee myself with the TCL in my living room, upset that for just $300 more, I could've had a far superior looking TV, and saved funds elsewhere to make up the difference.

If your source is standard cable or antenna then you're not going to benefit much from 4K. But if you are big into Netflix, Amazon or Blueray there will be a world of difference. Ultimately any difference will be based on if your source broadcasts in 4K.

That all sounds good. I like the frame rate you didn't find it comparable to q60?

This will see very little 4k. That's why I'm wondering if there is a better tv for less out there
