B&H has $300 off latest Apple Macbook Pro 16" i9 2.3GHz, 16GB, 1TB, 5500M 4GB for $2,499 + FS . Best price I've seen lately for this configuration, it's same price as the i7 version with same specs.

Link [bhphotovideo.com]

Key specs:
  • 2.3 GHz Intel Core i9 8-Core
  • 16GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM
  • 1TB SSD
  • 16" 3072 x 1920 Retina Display
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M GPU (4GB GDDR6)

They charge tax to most states (just like most on-line retailers now) unless you apply for their Payboo credit card.

Updated:
Amazon price matched (Thanks @shogun23). Link [amazon.com]
(only for Silver color)

Cheese and crackers! I bought a new ThinkPad X1 Carbon that costs half as much and is over twice as useful. How they get away with these prices is insane for such a limited OS
Can you share a link for ThinkPad X1 Carbon with similar specs for "half as much"? I am seeing i7 (with 6 cores) and 16GB of RAM for $2,200. How did you see "costs half as much" and "over twice as useful"?

"For idiots" can often be expressed as "does a lot for you".
MacOS is popular because it's a Unix OS without the extra time cost of learning about and dealing with Unix.
Plus there aren't many commercial applications available for the Linux platform (relative to MACos and Windows, so don't start posting examples). I'd bet that the majority of Mac buyers don't care that it's Unix based (and even fewer ever do anything with it that requires Unix).

Not limited to Apple. Even Dell is going that route nowadays.
Depends on the model. I'm pretty sure the non-ultra-thin laptops still have upgradeable RAM.

Costco was selling them around the holidays for $1,299 for the model with good specs and touchscreen. The rebate is gone for now unfortunately. I was able to get some friends to buy them who were fed up with their MacBook Pros.
Can you give the exact specs? I have been looking for ThinkPad X1 lineup as well, but I am not seeing i9 for less than $2,400. I don't care for touchscreen because the screen wobbles.

Did you basically mean that you got an i9 X1 Carbon for $1,299?

Are you talking about this one with the low-power cpu with half the cores and no dedicated gpu..?

Guys I think it's time to stop responding to mylesofsmiles. He's clearly not very knowledgeable and kind of a dick to boot...

You all should be ashamed of yourselves. I can't believe the level of toxicity and divisiveness over a stupid fruit logo
Well yes the name-calling is unnecessary, but the point remains that you've made an extraordinary claim with no extraordinary evidence to back it up. If you really got an i9 X1 Carbon for under $1,500 please post any link about it so others can be on the look out for a repeat of such an unbelievable deal. Given you say it was from Costco providing a link shouldn't be too difficult.

You're the one that called MacOS users idiots... The toxicity isn't because of the logo, it's because you aren't self aware enough to express your opinion in a constructive way. The false claims about the Thinkpad deal didn't help either I guess.

Hmm. Been doing light research. I'll be video editing mainly 1080p. Is there any benefit for me to get 32gb and not 16gb? Future proof to edit 4K and 8k?

yeah the joke was that most users complaining about MS spying in Win10 then go and use data harvesting apps on other OS without a second thought.
I've started using Vivaldi even.

It's too bad you couldn't even give a link or a list of specs. I had my hope up until I realized that your claims were deceitful. It's a shame that you spent time hating on a thread that you had no concern for, only to throw spiteful and deceitful comments.
