Popular deal at $12. These will very likely be made in china.

AAA rechargeable battery (12-pack, 800 mAh); ideal for digital cameras, remote controls, toys, and more
Long battery life; extremely gradual self-discharge; maintains 80% capacity for 24 months
Comes pre-charged and ready to use; can be recharged 1000 times with minimal power loss

It's kind of hard to tell but I think Amazon switch manufacturers for their batteries. The store page says they are the same batteries with a new label but I don't think that's the case. It would appear that, within the last month or so, they switched from being manufactured in Japan to China. It's hard to tell what effect that had on quality. I guess we'll just have to wait for someone like like Project Farm on Youtube to test them again.

Indeed this one is very versatile as it charges both NiMH (AA, AAA)and LiPo (e.g.18650)
I also use a La Crosse Technology BC700-CBP.

The lacrosse has 4 independent chargers and displays and can charge at different rates (200, 500, 700 mA), discharges, cycles. The XTAR has 4 independent chargers but only two displays and less precise for the voltage display so you have to press a button to toggle display between channel 1 and 2, 3 and 4.

This thing is awesome, it's set and forget and can also handle Li Ion batteries. For USB charging, get a wall adapter with 2 or more Amps. It's really handy if you travel a lot, in a pinch you could charge regular cells with a power bank if needed, in the car, etc.

Do not buy these!!! They do not hold charge very long, drain issues and leaks OMG what a waste, I've been a long time user of the Amazon basics and the past 12 month supply has been terrible, I'm being generous! there's a reason they're getting rid of them. Wait for a deal on eneloops or Duracells. for $10 you can get by with regular ones until a good deal on quality batteries come along

Will these work in cordless phones?
I have older AAA Amazon NiMH batteries that work in my Panasonic cordless phones.... so I'm guessing yes.

How does IKEA batteries compare with these ?
There's speculation [gizmodo.com]that IKEA batters are Eneloop Pros in disguise. If so, IKEAs would be better

Well to be honest, it's pretty common knowledge that Chinese-made products, in general, are known to be a low cost and lower in quality than more expensive products made in Japan, German, or US.

Anything from cars, rice cookers, and even batteries follow this trend. It's not to say all Chinese products are low quality, but I'd argue more often than not, this is the case.

There's a market for more economical products that don't need the best quality of course, and the Chinese dominate this market. There's nothing wrong with this. I'm happy with my Chinese phone cases, computer accessories, and BIC pens.

But when it comes to reliable car or medical equipment, I'd prefer products with high reliability and low failure rate.

Decent deal for pre-charged. Will give them a shot and hope for the best.

Also FYI, there is a AA 16 pack on sale for $20.37 also.
I'm hearing you. Not sure why nobody else is talking about AA. Camel3 shows a few cents more than all time low of 20.17

No it's not. The manufacturing wage in China has increased by double-digit percentage every year for the past 40 years. The manufacturing wage in China currently is on par with the likes of Portugal & Greece, it's 50% higher than that of Mexico's & Thailand's, 5 times higher than that of India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines etc
