LG G4 was 4 years ago. Let it go.
LG offers an incredible value proposition for their phone. They are the last manufacturer that still include a headphone jack on their flagship. Not only that it's a QuadDAC that can drive your Hi-Fi headphones! They have been offering 2 years warranty since the G6!
The only weakness with LG is software updates. With the new head of mobile division, I hope they can get their act together.
However, this is not a good price for the V40. You can get mint condition V40 (T-mobile) for about $250 on Swappa
Exactly. Another option is the Amazon renewed, which is about $248. If the phone shows up and you're displeased with the condition, returns are typically easy.

I had my V40 August 2018. It just died after the update..got the water in port error....then it stop detecting my sim and now the touch screen won't respond...waiting for Feb to see what's out to get another phone.
Did you buy it new from an authorized dealer? LG has a 2 year warranty.

You should contact LG. They're pretty good about warranty service based on my past experience.

I highly recommend the phone. I just bought one this past December and love it. I like my music so this works really well. But there are caveats to an LG though. Before that I'll provide my input to previous quesitons.

1. You can switch the bottom keys. It's drag and drop and you can add 2 additional ones if you want.
2. This or Note 9? I say go for Note 9 if you need the pen and versatility. V40 for media consumption.

Things to avoid with LG and V40

1. Issues mention above although I haven't heard of any with bootloops and such since the OLDER models.

2. LG updates are very slow like Samsung.

3. DO NOT BUY Sprint versions as Android 10 will disable your ability to modify APN settings. 10 hasn't been OTA for my Sprint V40 yet but my G8's all useless now. It is extremely bad for me with the G8's since I bought several of them, unlocked, for use in Laos. My v40 is the regular unlock so I'm hoping it won't be affected.
Samsung updates are not slow, Samsung has been very good in updating their flaghsips for past couple of years, for example my S10 is runing Android 10 Jan Securtity Patch, the only other device that is running that is Pixel and Pixel did not even get the Nov path. LG is the worst in getting updates.
Only a fool will buy an LG phone!

LG phones are still one of the best bang for your buck android phones in my opinion. Definitely not going to go against those who've stated about problems with their past hardware but stating that all LG phones are going to be plagued with hardware issues, pfft please... My V20 is still flawlessly working.

This is an older model already. Do your due diligence to see any issues before buying. Otherwise this is a great brand new phone for under $400.
Moto is best bang 4 buck. If you can afford LG - scrape a lil more for OnePlus, pixel or Galaxy. IMHO as the millennials say

Don't trust LG phones. One of the worst quality assurance possible.

LG G4 bootloop death
LG V20 antenna issues since its in the plastic bumpers.

I had enough of LG. Do research on problems before u buy LG phones.
I used a V20 for YEARS without any antenna issues, the only issue you will find with V20 is screen retention. The phone is also very easy to work on, I replaced the thermal paste with ease to stop thermal throttling.

It's really weird to see so many comments about LG being bad, on a post about an LG phone, even though other brands have pretty much same issues across all of their devices. I just wonder what drives someone to do such a thing so often.
Because this is a thread about an LG phone, people comment on the LG phone and phones. Where else do you think they post? In a thread about coffee maker for example?

Great phone but this simply is not a good price at all.

The anti-LG crowd is out in force tonight though I see. Hilarious how people on SD of all places bash the best value for the money manufacturer over issues that affected a handful of models half a decade ago while pretending other manufacturers have never have any problems but LG is the devil and everyone knows it and we are all fools for even considering their products.

That dude is not the dude who had a bad LG. He just saw your reply and jumped on it. It seems he has a working LG.

If they didn't like LG phones that much, why bother coming into the deal about it exclusively and bitch? There's no reason for it whatsoever. In fact, it's like going into a thread about coffee maker and saying that coffee is bad for you and that an espresso maker is so much better. Your logic makes no sense.

Paid $230 for a refurb and like new one (6-10 months old) that were Verizon handsets with all the bands for service. I got some "unlocked" ones that were really reflashed Sprint crap so buyer beware.
