this does not include state e file!

Careful on what version you buy!!!
The below only applies to the CD/Download version. The Block Online packages of the same name have limited forms compared to the Cd version.

There is much confusion about versions as to what does what and I thought I'd post this to try to clear things up.

Block likes to upsell you on the versions and there are almost outright deceptive marketing, wording and charts that cause much confusion about what version does what. Deluxe or even Basic will do the vast majority of returns even quite complicated ones.

Many mistakenly believe based on the charts and wording that Block puts out that you need Premium for things such as Schedule C, D & E. Deluxe handles all those forms but if you go by a chart or version picker on Block's site you will be guided the higher version.

Here is the full list of supported forms for Deluxe CD/Download version
You will see it is a quite extensive list and it will handle the vast majority of returns of your average taxpayers.

------------Reminder that you probably qualify for free tax preparation based on income.
------------H&R Block Online Deluxe can be had for free by those that me the income requirements:

Tax companies are known to lobby to make filing taxes a pain. Most people do not have particularly complex tax needs, and [b]70% of people in the US qualify for free tax preparation based on income.[b/] Below are some resources to help avoid spending too much on your tax preparation. Feel free to copy/paste this info wherever relevant.

If you make less than $66,000 in Adjusted Gross Income you qualify for free tax preparation (looks like it's going to be $69,000 for the 2019 tax year).

The non-profit The United Way offers free tax preparation using H&R Block Deluxe. This allows you to file your Federal returns and create up to 3 state returns for free. The Deluxe version is a step up from H&R Block's most basic "free" offering. Check it out here:
https://www.myfreetaxes.com

Note: While you can produce your state return for free, you may not be able to e-file for free. If that is the case, you can certainly print and mail your return for the cost of postage. Many states also offer their own free e-file solutions. Here is some info on which states offer free e-filing:
https://www.mymoneyblog.com/free-...tates.html

Here are what the different H&R block versions offer for reference:

Here are the forms supported by the Deluxe edition:
NOTE: Slickdeals' affiliate link system strips out the info to get to the appropriate page. I'll include the stuff you need to add after the dotcom to get to these files since there seems to be no way better way.

The AARP program Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation and assistance at established locations starting Feb 1, now with no income limit, no age limit, and no membership required.

This has been posted several times this morning. Good price for the software particularly with the AmEx discount. The 4% bonus is useless as you can get much better offer on Amazon GC with many AmEx offers frequently.

Seem like a pretty good deal. I'm going to be trying credit karma for free this year though
Be extra diligent especially with State Tax.

When I tried it couple of years ago (2016 tax), CK did OK with my Federal, but messed up my State (PA). Larger issue is when I did report the issue, it never got fixed on their system. I ended up buying the H&R (as I always do) and finishing the tax using that.

State tax owed was $35 or so according to H&R, (reasonable) but CK said I owed $450 which wasn't correct (PA state tax isn't really a rocket science since there is hardly any deductions and it is flat rate). It boiled down to when I was entering W2s (my wife had like 4 W2s that year), the state portion was not getting added correctly and it messed up the calculation.

Like I said, I reported that issue but was never fixed. I never used their system again. MAYBE I can give them another shot this year.

This is lame - state e-file is not included. $20. I mean you can mail it in for <$5 ... but it is a way to jack up the price and hide stuff.

Ordered the CD / Use with Amex 1 MR point to get 20% off ($4) and selected no rush for a $1 digital reward.. It was a little over $15 out of pocket. Re. efile - even if free, we never do. Google a bit, it makes audits soooo much easier for the government.

Using slow delivery credits good. Scam to get refund as amazon credit with minimal bonus something to stay away from.

Up to $15 in slow ship credits. May be time to pull the trigger and pay the fiver out of pocket.
They seem to have cut me off on offering me the slow shipping discounts.
Doesn't matter the cost of the item. It's never there now.

Oh well, they can just go back to shipping everything 2 day. -shrug-

HRBlock Deluxe does it just fine.
Don't know about "DoorDash drivers", but it handles 1099-MISC and guides you thru schedule C

Hate to thread crap this. But do you know getting % rebate from amazon require disclosure of your personal tax record to Amazon ?

Does it really worthy it to expose yourself ( SSN, income and asset records ) for that amount of money ?
