Probably gonna keep falling in price. This is an odd CPU in AMD line up now. For normal end user. 3700 and 3800 is more than fast enough. For those that actually need the cores probably will end up paying for the 3950x instead.

While I agree with you in principle - I am also shopping at the 3700, or 3600 cpu level, I'm a little doubtful that anyone would brush off the $200+ premium the 3950x demands over the 3900x.

As they say, though, competition is good...even between products from the same manufacturer.

Yeah this is a nice sweet spot for running a bunch of containerized services and VMs on a workstation. 12 punchy cores would be great for development too.

Thanks OP. I'm ready for a new Photoshop/photo editing machine, this would be pretty good for that. Disappointed that $10 off a $500 CPU is the best enticement that Newegg can come up with.

Somewhat stupidly picked up a Threadripper 1920x on sale last year, haven't had a chance to do anything with it, now I'm comparing it to this 3900x and, well, there's no comparison. The 3900 comes with a cooler, uses less wattage, has a better selection of affordable motherboards, and benchmarks better.
