Philips better enjoy their price gouging while they can...competition is getting better.

Hue stuff definitely isn't for the Bernie Sanders crowd...Only for the wealthy...Occupy Philips protests start when? Lol

(it's a bit of humor, please chill)
The shining city on a hill was supposed to be lit by Phillips hue lights?! Hahaha

Did you find out if they are still $199 in-store?

No. $229 @ my store in GA. I bought one back when they were $199 with the $50 gift card from the play bar starter kit back in December. Best deal I've come across so far. Still haven't fixed the light sync glitches with passthrough. To be honest, it's still worth it.

Not really a deal as the 50 dollar gift card cannot be applied to the Hue Sync. Waiting for an actual price drop on the unit.
It will be a while to see the drop, maybe by Feb 3 when Philips allow the sell from other merchants in US and Europe as for now its exclusive to BestBuy as fas i know.

This is the best deal for now, if you happen to purchased the Play kit deal with the 50$ ecard last Dec then the price drops to $129 because of the 2x $50 gift card.

Still cheaper the in-store $199

Has this box ever been on a proper sale? It seems like it's always over $200. I guess the $50 GC is better than nothing.
while $50 gc is better then nothing, the price will get better, come down more if they want people to buy it.

I have yet to see this drop below its retail price of $229 but I have been checking Bestbuy as I had a few gift cards from buying the Hue Play light kits that were front page deals so when I saw this last night including the $50 GC plus my $100 in GC I bit. I know its not the slickest deal, but like you said $50 GC is better than nothing.

I have one - I almost never use it. You'd be surprised how much of the content you watch isn't really suited for colored lights.

Waiting for this to drop to $50 on clearance 👍🏼 but it'll most likely be $100 plus $50 BB giftcard

Still about $80 too much assuming you factor in the gift card as a discount (which you can't really do). Won't touch this thing until it's around $100. Thanks for the post though. Hopefully it means they will start discounting it more and more.

Although the price is too high on this, I'd be willing to bend over and pay it if it supported Dolby Vision and the other HDR formats it's missing. Until then there's not enough of an advantage over just using huestream on my Shield. Huestream doesn't work with Netflix/Amazon Video/Disney+, etc, but a lot of the content I watch from those sources is DV so having the HDMI box wouldn't do my any good anyway. I watch a lot of content on Plex and huestream works great on that so it'll do for now until Hue gets their act together and starts supporting HDR better.

I had not awful luck with using an Android phone with a Hue camera App installed to do something similar.

No way I can spend that.
