It may just be my controllers, but my PS4 controllers seem to die a lot quicker than my Xbox battery packs and Eneloops.

This uses a NiMH battery which won't hold a charge after a year with regular use. The OEM Microsoft battery is Lithium Ion which will have much better longevity.

As a former ps guy now an Xbox boy. You can swap batteries and you don't have to plug it in all the time, you don't have to buy a new controller if/when the internal battery craps out.

The Elite v2 does, this kit isn't compatible with it, obviously.

I've used the Energizer brand controller charger for years which can be found for around $20 or less when on sale.

The new elite controller does. I'd much rather have a controller that I can change batteries freely in over one that only lasts a year and is unusable without a cord after

I am just surprised that's all. It seems like every device has built-in rechargeable batteries now.
No. Not every device has built in batteries. Batteries included, maybe.
