And there's the catch...

If the promotion is in your account, no harm in activating it. But this isn't going to be useful for many folks. Certainly not worth booking any Anytime/BS fares to take advantage.

Southwest sells these fares at 2-3x the price with marginal benefits (ability to cancel, priority boarding - which can usually be purchased at the gate for much cheaper). The points don't justify the extra cost unless you are buying last minute.

I have 3 trips booked too, but I'm guessing your 3 trips are booked with the WGA fare type? If so, this wouldn't have benefit you either way. Got excited seeing the promotion, then sad when seeing the requirement that it has to be Anytime or Business Select fare types.

Yep, fare type requirement is not idea but I'm lucky enough (or not lucky depending on how you look at it) to have to book most of my trips with less than 2 week notice making most of my bookings the Anytime type. I'm sure I'll get the extra 12k but bummed that the points dont count towards A-list or companion.

Anytimes are full fare flights probably triple the WGA fare, only useful for biz travelers who need to book stuff < 1 week out.

Was in my account and activated it, but our company's swa contract terms make it so our stuff almost always books at web-only or wga fares even 2-3 days out... oh well

I think we all agree not very valuable. Maybe worth $30 for each 2000 points.

But yeah, if only they were tier qualifying, it might be worth considering a little harder.

Boo.

You mean ability for refund, you can always cancel a southwest flight up to 10 mins before takeoff, but it stays as a credit with wanna get away fares.

So much this. Also if you book with points you negate the cancel benefit. I like flying southwest but anything outside of get away fares is pointless and a waste of money if you cover a couple bases.

I fly them almost every week. I did not get an email, but it shows up in my account. Silly that you have to click to activate it. And 12,000 bonus points? If I fly Business Select on my trip this week, I would already get 16,000 points for this round trip because I am A-List Preferred. So, not a deal for me. I don't think it is going to change anyone's buying behavior.

WGA is usually only available 2 weeks or more out from a flight. if you have last minute travel, or flying on a business account, or flying for work, then a lot of people buy regular fare
