Wow. Thanks!! I've had my eye on the hydraulic impact driver for a while now, and that tool kit alone runs $199. Repped.

If you compare the normal price of the surge kit $199, then this is great deal.
However, Home Depot is having a [homedepot.com]deal on [homedepot.com]the surge kit (w/ charger + 2x 2.0Ah battery) + FREE 6.0Ah battery for $199 [homedepot.com]. I bought the deal & returned the battery for $66.11; the surge kit costed $132.89.

Comparing with this deal, Fuel hammer drill + upgrade from 2.0 to 4.0Ah battery = 210.40 - 132.89 = $77.51. Since the hammer drill is $80 on amazon [amazon.com], this deal is slightly better.

If you already have a drill, then go for Home Depot deal for the surge.
If you need a drill & the surge, this is a great combo deal for you.

The M12 Surge kit is about $133 at Home Depot if you return the 6.0 battery. You have to ask yourself if the Hammer drill and an upgrade to a 4.0 battery is worth the additional coin. The Hammer drill kit with hardcase and two batteries was $99 recently at Home Depot for example.

Looks like unumshopper beat me to the punch here.

true..but my impression was ymmv due the m12 surge kit...not all home depots were taking the 6.0 battery back....treated it like it was all one sku

at least according to the other thread on that deal......turned out ok for me esp since i can use both...thanks for the info

This is a better deal for me. I just got my first M12 tool, the 3/8 ratchet, and still need a charger. I'm pretty invested in the Dewalt 20v so the hammer drill doesn't make much sense. The impact driver at least makes some sense in that is is a quieter smoother tool and could have its uses vs my 20v impact driver.

My impression though was the only way to return the battery was if they were separated out on the receipt, and this would only happen if they were purchased in store. Is that correct? I suppose one could always attempt to return it without a receipt.

Correct, the bundles online are difficult to separate for a return. Your best bet is to buy instore. You'll see the return values on the receipt. The only issues I've experienced with returns was when I used a giftcard for the original purchase. Never had an issue returning a 'free' item for partial refund.

Sorry for the dumb question but if you buy these two items in store does the discount apply automatically at self checkout?

Yes, the surge is really smooth & quiet. I love it. My kids got scary when I was using M12 Fuel impact driver non-surge one since it was too loud!

Yes, you're right about the battery separated out on the receipt. I bought my surge set in-store so both items separated out and shown refund value.
