How is this a good deal when Premier Plus was $13 at Walmart a few months ago, and when the upgraded 4K Stick was $30 Black Friday weekend?

The updated Amazon fire remote with volume control/power has been life changing for us...

+1
Seems like there are some experts here and can help guide me. I have a tv that will be used rarely so instead of getting a cable box for it I was going to get a Roku and let guests use the remote to stream our subscriptions. Will I need a device that lets them control volume too since I would rather only have 1 remote.

By that logic, any price that drops a few cents is a good deal in the here and now. Past deals indicate how good you have it now --- to put in an analogy, take a look at a guy uglier than you and his girlfriend. Now look at your girlfriend. You don't have a body swapping machine but it tells you whether you got a good or bad deal.

Can this be done with Fire stick using the app/phone remote? My TV doesn't have bluetooth but would like to use headphones to listen.
I have no idea. I don't use any of the Fire TV or sticks

Not really. This helps anyone who is looking for a Roku right now. If I need to buy a PS4 but missed the Black Friday deal, I will still take the best deal at the time. If I need iTunes App Store gift cards now and missed the 20% Black Friday deal, I would still benefit from today's 15% off deal.

Silly analogy. It's not just looks but sure there is a rule of thumb. Plenty of extremely pretty women that I'm sure you wouldn't shack up with since they're as thick as a brick as one example.

Only issue with this Roku version is that it doesn't allow you to turn the TV on and off with it.

I have this exact device. It works well, every now and again I have to reboot it for voice to sync up properly. Also make sure to turn volume leveling off, otherwise you will always have audio sync issues.

No-Go for me, unless it has an Ethernet port I don't want to deal with it.

Wrong logic. For someone who intends on buying a roku, any discount is a good deal because he would buy the roku at full price otherwise. SD is a forum for people looking for hot deals... meaning stuff they don't need right now (or ever) but would buy it because of the sale value. Some people buy stuff without knowing what they are just because it was a hot discount--- buy first, regret or return later.
That portion of SD is a really small, small part of the population. Akin to addicted gamblers at a casino. The majority are regular people playing a few bucks for fun (shop smartly) instead of losing their retirement savings and kid's college funds (buying something just because it is on sale without even needing it).
