Winix c535 True hepa filter $69.99, refurbished

Features:

The Winix C535 Air Cleaner with PlasmaWave® Technology combines smart sensors and a 3-Stage filtration system to deliver the cleanest air you can make yourself. 99.97% efficient True HEPA Filtration; Odor Control Carbon Pre-filter; and PlasmaWave Technology offer superior control of Household Odors, Pollutants and Allergens.

Room Size: The C535 is AHAM rated for 360 square feet and is perfect for bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchens.

Air Quality Sensor: The C535 air purifier consistently monitors the air around it; offering Set and Forget convenience by automatically adjusting your air cleaner settings to meet the needs of your environment.

Light Sensor: Automatically lowers fan speed and dims the control panel display for quiet night time operation.

4 Fan Speeds: From Quiet mode for whisper low and energy efficient cleaning to Turbo for ultimate performance

True HEPA Filtration: Captures 99.97% of airborne pollutants, pet dander and allergens as small as 0.3 microns

Activated Carbon Filter: Formulated to capture offensive smoke, cooking and other household odors. The disposable carbon sheet also works as a pre-filter to capture large particles like hair, carpet fibers and dust which extends the life of the True HEPA filter.

PlasmaWave Technology: Attacks pollutants at a molecular level to neutralize viruses, bacteria, chemical vapors, odors and gases in the air without producing harmful ozone.

These filters are great. 4 fan speeds. On setting 2 they move plenty of air and are very quiet.

The coway is a 4-stage and i think the Winix is only two stage. man rough crowd. I said. I think.

I stand corrected. 3 stage. looked like a 2 stage at first glance.

This vs Coway Airmega 200M Air Purifier?
I picked up two of the Airmega 200M purifiers and am pretty happy with them. We have a long house so I have one at each end and our air handler vent is in the middle with a 3M Filtrete filter. My wife is a clean freak and really appreciated the fact that they appear to clean up the air.

She was cooking the other day and we had one in the kitchen. Almost instantly when she was grilling some chicken that produced a little smoke, the indicator light on the Airmega turned purple....then red. After running a while, it went back to blue.

I've seen the other unit detect something near our bedroom, and turn purple (perhaps it detects moisture from the shower/bathroom or cologne?)...but most of the time the indicator light stays blue. It makes me think that it's a layer of protection. The hepa filters on those should last 1 year as long as you clean the others every 2-3 weeks. I'm tempted to get more filters though because I like the concept of trapping dust and pollen even though our cleaning lady cleans dust once a week and we often vacuum in between those cleanings.

I can't speak for the ionizer, but the hepa filter and fan speed are the biggest factors in effectiveness. Having the carbon prefilter helps keep the hepa filter from getting clogged by the big stuff.

could be faulty but this thing never goes on automatically! I have the older WAC5500 and that thing turns on even on silent farts that don't smell. wife hates farts and she slaps my back whenever that thing goes on.

I wanna get one for my parents house. Should I wait for the Costco version with extra filters to go on sale again at $99?

Based on what Conway considers 4-stage the Winix is also 4-stage.

The C535 has a pre-filter just like the Conway.

Conway considers stages: 1 prefilter, 2 charcoal filter, 3 HEPA filter, 4 Ozone / Ion generator

It's in the manual.

This price is half compared to coway. That's why I am asking. I can buy almost 2 like these with the current deal.
