Completely different class of glass. The Tasco one "will work" but the tripod is rubbish. And it's not a great view. But you can see impacts, etc. Even though that one has more zoom, this one should be much clearer. But you're comparing a 500$ spotting scope with a 100$ spotting scope.

That said, I'd probably skip both, I hate cheap spotting scopes and especially rubbish tripods and I don't think this is that great of a deal. There are vortex's and other quality spotters in the 20-60 realm that are priced in the <500 realm. Animal watching etc the less than 20 might be handy, but for spotting impacts etc, you don't need to find the target fast. so 20x lowest zoom is fine.

Do people often spend the MSRP of $1,699.00 on this or does it often come down to this price?

Good question!
I'm guessing that this discount is likely a seasonal or time oriented price drop;
It's the end (or quite close to ending) of one of the biggest hunting seasons, deer, for the U. S. so items like this spotting scope that are hunting/shooting related will have a large but temporary dip in price.

For your validation here and in future cases with other deals, here are two of my favorite pricing tools that I've found to help, myself at least, give better clarity when that tunnel vision starts to set in with the impulse to buy, upon seeing red ink, a price with a slash, and/or a drastic markdown percentage either written out in bold... if you're a member of SD then you know what I am talking about lol

The one I'd recommend the most is via eBay-I believe you have to be a member and logged in to access the following feature but it is free of cost- and going into advanced search sub menu. You can then search listings that are sold and/or completed and find exactly what sellers were trying to get for items but weren't able to sell them (completed listings) or what people actually are paying for certain items (sold listings).

You can filter search results and limit to find the closest real world price that correlates to the price of the item that you want to buy; for example, here you're looking at a new item, so filter out any used or refurbished listings, and also limit the time period to just ones competed recently IF this does turn out to be a seasonally related price drop.

Would like to hear how it goes for you and good luck Smilie

No. Price on Bushnell site is 1199 unless I'm missing something. Normal price I'd guess is around 1000. But in my opinion, anyone that is going to spend more than $300 on a scope is likely not looking at Bushnell.

Actually the price on the Bushnell site is $999.99. This is the model without the reticle.

Keep in mind this is a straight spotting scope, so it's great for a spotter. You'll probably want an angled one if you want to shoot from a mat or bench and check your own target easily.
