Is this actually that much better than the W40's that it's worth spending an extra $100 for them?

I am not sure if anyone can definitely answer that for you as it depends on many things... look at it this way... is i7 better than i5 cpu? yes and you can quantify it with testing. but is it better for your use? if say you're mostly doing googly docs, browsing, skype calls? maybe not as much....

so, w60 are better, yes, but if you're looking just to power them off a phone on a train ride or other noisy environment, you may not get all the benefits of it

Are these waterproof, shatterproof and elephant proof because if not, I would rather pay $500 on a cheap hooker and a cheeseburger.
Just why do you open your mouth?

It's best to test them out. If you are running a decent amp there will probably be a noticeable difference. You can always return the 60 if you don't like it.

Either that is a really expensive cheeseburger or your definition of cheap and mine aren't the same.

Adam, happy to see ikko OH10's getting some love! Cannot truly answer your question since I've never tried Westones (no offense to Westone fans) but I got my OH10's last week and they are the single greatest purchase I've made for music! Having tried many different IEMs, including a few of the popular ones over $1k... these OH10s beat out all of them for me in every area. Sound quality with clearest of highs and deepest of lows, how they fit, and even down to the way they feel. Hands down. Best headphone I've ever heard for music!

Also highly recommend the new Fiio BTR5 to play them through. Sounds great even while connected through bluetooth. Absolute winners!

Fair point, I guess I never really know until I try them.

Well, for short term I plan on using them on my phone just for random things, but long term I plan on joining in on a local podcast and i think these might make a big difference on the quality of sound I'm just not certain yet that they are worth the investment.

joining local podcast to listen or to speak? how is podcast mastered? how is podcast distributed? is it losslessness format or encoded like mp3 or mp4?
