Mint Mobile ran a Super Bowl ad last year. Instead of running an ad this year, they are taking out a NY Times ad instead annoucining they are giving away their 3 Month T&T/3GB plan (Normally $45) for free to new customers to get them to try the service. It says you have 45 days to activate. Runs on T-Mobile Network. You can sign up starting this Sunday at 6:15 p.m. to coincide with the Super Bowl kickoff. It says the offer ends at the final whistle of the game.

SIM card expires on March 19th

Offer expires midnight pst

Quote from BeautifulPlastic691 :
So ANY unlocked GSM phone will work?
Not so much. Voice will work, but like any other GSM service - different carriers have different LTE bands, so if you want data to work well you need to get a phone that has the right LTE bands for that carrier.

Device compatibility
Quick tip! Easily check your phone's compatibility with our network using the IMEI Status Check. No need to compare network frequencies or device lists!
https://www.t-mobile.com/resource...-own-phone

Frequencies that can provide LTE: Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 5 (850 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz), Band 66 (Extension of band 4 on 1700/2100 MHz), Band 71 (600 MHz).
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...le-network

What are the requirements for the free 3-month plan?

One plan per household. Credit card required. You must activate within 45 days of purchase. 3 months of service start at the time of activation. No additional purchase is required. New activations only.

Already a Mint customer? Sorry this promo is for new customers only, however, it's the perfect time to get your family member or roommate to join the movemint.

Is this plan actually FREE or are there hidden fees?

No games here. This 3-month 3GB plan is 100% on us. There is just a $0.01 temporary payment verification to verify the credit card used is valid. And even that will be refunded within 5-7 business days.

When does this free offer start?
When does this offer end?

The offer ends when the final whistle in the big game blows. We're thinking that'll be around 7:15 pm PST.
What happens after my 3 free months?

When your 3 free months are up, you can choose to renew with a 3, 6, or 12-month plan and keep the wireless savings going.

Mint Tip: Get our best monthly price by renewing for 12 months.

Is the 3GB of 4G LTE data per month?

Yes, it's per month. With a 3-month, 3GB Mint plan, you'll get 3GB of 4G LTE data (with unlimited data at lower speeds) each month, for the 3 months.

Any unused data does not roll over, though. It resets at the end of your data cycle.
What if I need more than 3GB of data per month?
Can I use the free plan later?

Sure. You have up to 45 days from your plan's delivery date to activate your SIM card. If you're locked in with your current *expensive* carrier, you can buy today and activate when you're ready to switch. Buying today won't impact your current service.

Can I bring my own phone?
Can I keep my number?

Yes, you can keep your number when you join Mint. To transfer your current phone number, simply select the option 'Transfer My Number' during activation. Unfortunately, once a plan is activated, we can't transfer your number, so make sure you do it at activation.

We suggest prepping before activation as you'll need some information from your old carrier:

Your current account number. This can be found on your billing statement, or just hit them up to get it
The corresponding password, pass code or PIN code number.
The billing address associated with the account.

T&C of 3 Free Months Promo

Eligibility requirements apply. Please see eligibility requirements below prior to purchase. Bonus period comes in the form of stored value. 3mos/3GB and 6mos/3GB plans only. Taxes and fees apply. Payment for entire subscription period required during promotion window. Not combinable with other offers and not eligible for Ultra Starter Kits. Plans must be activated within 45 days of purchase. If data limits are exceeded, speeds are reduced to 128kbps until reset. Pricing, promotions, and terms & conditions are subject to change and may be modified or terminated at any time without notice. Compatible phone required. By activating/using Ultra's service, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by the full Plan Terms & Conditions.

SIM card expires on March 19th

Credit card is required. Are you automatically charged after the 3 months?
You can set it so your plan doesn't auto-charge.

Can't find an answer on their site - anyone have an idea if they have any international plans or anything available for anyone living abroad? I was able to enter a non-US number into the "text me later" part of the website from OP's link...

New activation required. While supplies last. Limited time offer. Limit 1 per household. Participation in Refer-a-Friend excluded. Promotion and terms subject to change. Must be activated within 45 days of purchase. Further restrictions apply.

Do we just try to get on their website and order sim kit before they run out? Do we need a compatible phone ready that day?

No. You can turn off Auto Renew or port out before your 3 free months are up.

you can use roaming credit to use it abroad, however, it is really expensive:
$0.05/txt
$0.25/min
$0.2/MB

Your second question is contrary to the rule saying "Must be activated within 45 days." You only need a phone when you activate.

Ah wow, yea I would need it set up as just a "regular/local" line. I wonder if there is anything like that out there? I'm living in Israel for the time being, and may be here for a while, so I'm getting tired of going to some store and paying out of pocket once per month for a pre-paid line...anyone have any suggestions?

Wow awesome deal. So if you have already ported your number to GV, you can buy two sets, activate one now and activate the other after 45 days to get 4.5 months of free service!
Nope. One per household.

It included 3 in 1 SIM kit. Just signup at 6:45 p.m. Eastern TIme. On the webpage promo, you can also just put in your email address or phone # for them to remind you when the deal goes live.

I got their 12gb deal during the black Friday sale and used PayPal for payment. Would it be possible to get this deal if I use a different payment method?

looks like you can port from t-mobile, unlike their other promos
My SO ported from T-mobile during the Mint buy 3 months get 3 months deal. It was no hassle at all. She was on a post-paid account, and was not the primary line.

Good deal but 3GB is too low of data. How much more to add additional data?
the FAQ says you can pay the difference.

"What if I need more than 3GB of data per month?
You can upgrade your 4G LTE data anytime by paying the prorated difference between the 3GB and an 8GB or 12GB upgraded plan. You can also renew into a higher GB plan once your free plan ends. "
