Mint Mobile ran a Super Bowl ad last year. Instead of running an ad this year, they are taking out a NY Times ad instead annoucining they are giving away their 3 Month T&T/3GB plan (Normally $45) for free to new customers to get them to try the service. It says you have 45 days to activate. Runs on T-Mobile Network. You can sign up starting this Sunday at 6:15 p.m. to coincide with the Super Bowl kickoff. It says the offer ends at the final whistle of the game.

SIM card expires on March 19th

Offer expires midnight pst

Quote from BeautifulPlastic691 :
So ANY unlocked GSM phone will work?
Not so much. Voice will work, but like any other GSM service - different carriers have different LTE bands, so if you want data to work well you need to get a phone that has the right LTE bands for that carrier.

Device compatibility
Quick tip! Easily check your phone's compatibility with our network using the IMEI Status Check. No need to compare network frequencies or device lists!
https://www.t-mobile.com/resource...-own-phone

Frequencies that can provide LTE: Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 5 (850 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz), Band 66 (Extension of band 4 on 1700/2100 MHz), Band 71 (600 MHz).
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...le-network

What are the requirements for the free 3-month plan?

One plan per household. Credit card required. You must activate within 45 days of purchase. 3 months of service start at the time of activation. No additional purchase is required. New activations only.

Already a Mint customer? Sorry this promo is for new customers only, however, it's the perfect time to get your family member or roommate to join the movemint.

Is this plan actually FREE or are there hidden fees?

No games here. This 3-month 3GB plan is 100% on us. There is just a $0.01 temporary payment verification to verify the credit card used is valid. And even that will be refunded within 5-7 business days.

When does this free offer start?
When does this offer end?

The offer ends when the final whistle in the big game blows. We're thinking that'll be around 7:15 pm PST.
What happens after my 3 free months?

When your 3 free months are up, you can choose to renew with a 3, 6, or 12-month plan and keep the wireless savings going.

Mint Tip: Get our best monthly price by renewing for 12 months.

Is the 3GB of 4G LTE data per month?

Yes, it's per month. With a 3-month, 3GB Mint plan, you'll get 3GB of 4G LTE data (with unlimited data at lower speeds) each month, for the 3 months.

Any unused data does not roll over, though. It resets at the end of your data cycle.
What if I need more than 3GB of data per month?
Can I use the free plan later?

Sure. You have up to 45 days from your plan's delivery date to activate your SIM card. If you're locked in with your current *expensive* carrier, you can buy today and activate when you're ready to switch. Buying today won't impact your current service.

Can I bring my own phone?
Can I keep my number?

Yes, you can keep your number when you join Mint. To transfer your current phone number, simply select the option 'Transfer My Number' during activation. Unfortunately, once a plan is activated, we can't transfer your number, so make sure you do it at activation.

We suggest prepping before activation as you'll need some information from your old carrier:

Your current account number. This can be found on your billing statement, or just hit them up to get it
The corresponding password, pass code or PIN code number.
The billing address associated with the account.

T&C of 3 Free Months Promo

Eligibility requirements apply. Please see eligibility requirements below prior to purchase. Bonus period comes in the form of stored value. 3mos/3GB and 6mos/3GB plans only. Taxes and fees apply. Payment for entire subscription period required during promotion window. Not combinable with other offers and not eligible for Ultra Starter Kits. Plans must be activated within 45 days of purchase. If data limits are exceeded, speeds are reduced to 128kbps until reset. Pricing, promotions, and terms & conditions are subject to change and may be modified or terminated at any time without notice. Compatible phone required. By activating/using Ultra's service, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by the full Plan Terms & Conditions.

SIM card expires on March 19th

The girlfriend has mint mobile, awful service quality and awful customer service, although depending on who you ask it's either a 0 or a 100 on terms of "is it worth it?" so I guess you could count me as a 0, while I'm sure there are other people who are 100's and fully rep mint mobile.
Thanks can you elaborate on the issues location etc. ?

Sure, I got her the Google Pixel 3a with 3 months of 12GB Mint Mobile data (sim card with data plan) for Christmas. We've gone through 2 sim cards and 4 phone calls to setup the network for Phoenix, AZ so she can send MMS messages but so far have been unable to get it working. That means she can only send plain texts, we have to use Discord for gifs/pictures/video or other applications because the APN settings that Mint keep giving her are wrong and won't allow MMS on the network in her area, which is a major metro area so you can see why I now tell people to steer clear. You'll find people who swear up and down that mint is the best out there, but having gone down that path and being burned repetitively through a deal I bought from Slickdeals for mint mobile, I can say I am not a fan of mint mobile and neither is my girlfriend.

Also once you hit 12GB on your data plan, they nuke it down to snail speeds, I thought after looking over the data plan multiple times this wouldn't be the case but it is. An example, she hit around 13GB last month and we were trying to listen to Spotify on low quality last month while in the car, couldn't handle it, kept dropping out because the speeds after her "12GB of premium data" were out. You still have data but it's very slow.

Great that its free
Not Great they want a CC number ,

I just put in a 3 month Mint sim on Monday that was 3 months / 12gb a month for $35 for the 3 month service , That shows up at Best Buy every few months,
Black friday 2018 they had 3 months / 5gb for $20 , that got upgraded to 8gb a month I did a year of those !

If you have Tmobile service Mint is OK , I never had to call them .,
But today up in North Pasadena , Mint got super slow service , so you never know !

Have you placed a t-mobile phone next to yours to test them against one another? Maybe things have improved since the reviews....?
There is a delay in text messages being received and sent, as with all phones not a part of the same network, but calls are instant.

Here is a speedtest.net using Mint 4G. It says Tmobile because Mint uses Tmobile towers.

I have LG G7 ThinQ and Mint works fine. It works with any GSM phone. I have been using Mint for the past 7 months with 3GB/mo on 12 month plan. Mint is a GSM cell service so any GSM phone works.

Wow, sounds like a "specific to your area" issue. I've had them since 2017 across 4 phones (I'm rough on phones) currently on a Pixel 3a XL in the Cleveland/Akron/Canton OH area. 0 problems that weren't of my own doing (misspelled something due to autocorrect in APN settings and didn't catch it). The data thing I can't speak to since I usually have WiFi available and 3GB is plenty for my driving times. Sorry to hear you went through all that, really sounds like you tried way harder than you should have had to. I guess if you're in the Phoenix AZ area steer clear.

Love Mint. Been with them for years. Their new referral program is nice. 5 referrals = 1 year free service. I now have 3 years free. Try it!

What fee increase? I've paid $180/yr for the last 3 years. Where you gonna beat $15/mo? Come on, man. lmao.

Smart move by Mint. Instead wasting $5mil on SuperBowl ad, give that money to customers in hope they'll stay after 3 months.

I love Mint.
