I vote this down and this is why. Back a month ago i bought the 6 tool, 2 batteries (4 amp and 2 amp), for $180 ($200-20 after buying giftcards off Newegg).
My store still had two 6 tool kits in stock but I think the price went to $269.
If you need batteries for the kit you already have it might be a good deal but for someone who is looking at getting into a new platform it is not.

Agreed that the $199 6-tool deal was better, but that may not be available now; certainly if you can still find it and you are starting with this platform I would go with that.
If you can't find it (I've seen one remaining kit for $199 at one of the Lowe's I go to, everywhere else it is $269 I believe), or if you're already invested in Kobalt (I have every tool or its equivalent in the kit) and want to add tools or batteries this is a good deal.

This deal is still good for building a set along with the current $269 6 tool set. If I knew my tools would have been stolen last weekend, I would have gotten in on the $199. But I didn't so the $269 and this are still good deals.

I think this is a good deal. I don't want the 6 tool kit. I already have those tools except most of mine are Dewalt.
I went in on this deal because I wanted the ratchet. I had Lowes gifts cards too so my cost on the Kobalt was $116.99 for 2 batteries, charger and tool. I can't get a cordless Milwaukee or HF EarthQuake ratchet with battery & charger for that price.

That's pretty dumb logic. This is why. The Ryobi 2 batteries + tool for $99 is an SD favorite, this is that, but for $29 more you get your choice of brushless tool, Ryobi's $99 deal typically does not include any of the brushless selection. You are saying, the $199 6 tool deal was so good, that this isnt worth it. But the $199 tool deal is over, its the past.
God I wish people would stop saying this on every single Kobalt related post. Kobalt and Lowe's have made it clear that the Kobalt power tool line isn't going anywhere.
is that before or after they abandoned the whole hand tool segment?
"actions speak louder than words", lol, do you actually expect them to tell you that they are going out of business?
you have no idea how corporate America works. keep buying the overpriced tools, Kobalt management need your help to get themselves good exit retirement packages.
my bet is on Craftsman and from what it looks like Lowes is also betting on Craftsman.
Feel free to guess as you wish. Unfortunately nothing that you have posted is based on fact. Then you post this misinformation as if you know something. If you want to run around like Chicken Little posting that the sky is falling so be it. Whatever floats your boat.

you can keep waiting until the facts hit you in the face. in the interim feel free to read about Enron, JCP and ironically Sears.
Was able to get the die grinder and ratchet for free when I bought two packages of the batteries; all were on the same receipt. Again, no signs in the store.

So what are you trying to achieve by posting here? Obviously people interested in this deal already have Kobalt tools so you won't be persuading anyone from purchasing their products on this post. Just go post on other products that you are interested in and leave it alone.
The only Kobalt power tool I have is the 24-volt Max 12-in Straight Cordless String Trimmer (Battery Included) that I bought in 2017 for $96, which still works great, but I wanted a second battery to use while the main one charged. Last year, I got the Kobalt 24-volt max 2.0-Ah Li-ion battery for their normal price of $20 ($18 with military discount) which I thought was great for replacement battery prices. Now I see the normal price is $30! Did they do a big price increase on all the Kobalt stuff?

Battery prices have increased. They used to be very cheap, much cheaper than the competition - $10 for 1.5A, $20 for 2A, $50 for 4A. Since the increases the least expensive way to get batteries are in a kit with a tool, or as a multipack (two 4A batteries are $99 currently). I've never seen the batteries go on sale.
