There's a newer version coming, a lot smaller and more subjectively visually pleasing

Have they announced how much it will sell for?

It's wifi, so probably a lot. I have the 2nd gen HomeKit enabled August locks and hate them to the point I don't trust or use them anymore. Going to switch to Wyze locks in Feb.

I was looking at the wyze locks too. I think I'm going to go that way also, but I will probably wait for a sale.

Why do you prefer Wyze lock?

The August locks chew thru 4 AA batteries a month and since iOS 13, they've been about as reliable and useful as a normal deadbolt... aka worthless. I like my other Wyze products a lot more, so I'll eventually switch over to Wyze locks soon, since they use Zwave or Zigbee so the batteries should last a lot longer.

Only one month? How often were you using it? Trying to get an understanding of the battery life

Not much at all. Had them set to auto-lock after 30 minutes, but randomly they'll start auto-locking after 2-5ish minutes. That started before iOS 13. The one appears to have died. It connects to the app, once in awhile, but always disconnect before you can get into settings for that lock.

I have a Pro + Connect and use Android and my batteries lasted like 9-10 months. I've never had any MAJOR issues, though sometimes the auto-unlock just refuses to trigger, but I can't guarantee that's not my phone being dumb because I can go into the app and unlock it myself. Auto-lock triggers at 10 minutes basically without fail, and I've regularly remote unlocked it to let people in. It's been worth every penny for me.

A quick review here:

Bought the August Smart Lock Pro + Connect bridge back in dec during the sale. Would like to say I'm very happy with it and have had no issues with batteries running out so far (using slightly more than a month now).

I have auto-unlock turned on and after some initial hiccups, the lock now detects my location and unlocks my door by the time I'm 8-10 steps away from the entrance. With the connect bridge, I can always check if I have locked my door or not and not having to go back if I worry about leaving it unlock (I stay on a stupid steep hill so that's a plus).

In addition, since I have pro + connect edition, I can tell if the door is locked/unlocked and opened/ajar remotely. I went for a xmas holiday and got a notification my door was opened while I wasn't around, person stayed about 2 minutes and left. I sent an email to my landlord immediately and found out that they entered my flat wrongly. Super useful since I was away from home.

Since I'm renting and don't have the option to modify my entire lock to a smart lock, this August smart lock allowed me to get into smart home automation. When I come home, I tell Alexa to lock my front door or unlock it in the morning when I'm leaving. My friends have been super impressed when they visited too. Unlike the poster above, no problems with batteries and I'm sticking with this lock! Since I got it cheap, I can probably resell as a used value next time when I leave the city in necessary.

I have the August Smart Lock Pro + Connect since last march. No issues so far and very happy with it. Batteries last about 3-4 months but i understand i have heavy usage. Auto-lock and unlock works quite good. Love the convenience of letting in maid, cook, friends. Alerts if door is ajar and whenever someone enters. I also have the keypad and its works great.

Just make sure, deadbolt is compatible and there is an outlet less than 15 ft facing the lock for connect bridge and it would make life easy. Else, need an outlet to the right of the lock when coming inside as that's where signal is strongest.

Planning to get the new august view doorbell when it goes for sale. Currently Ring doorbell 2 works but would love the overall integration of august and will work with google assistant.

Your experience basically mirrors mine, honestly. As a fairly heavy user, I was happy to get 9+ months out of my batteries, and it's not like 4AA batteries break the bank.
