Bowl lift mixer is steadier. Tilt heads often get a wobble over time at the tilting joint.
The bowl lift often have larger motors because the additional weight doesn't matter since you're not tilting the head.

As far as ease of use, tilt head is easier to change attachments. But...it's not difficult on the bowl lift either.

I have a bowl lift and love it.

The $200 target/Best buy mixer is the same as the $220 pro+ at KitchenAid. I emailed them earlier asking about the Pro HD vs Pro+ and got this response:

The Professional 5+ (KV25G0X) and the Professional HD (KG25H0X) are both 525 watts, both 5 Quart Bowl Lift models and both have all metal gears and housing.

The KG25H0X is a narrow bowl model which means that there will not be a Flex Edge Beater available for this model. The KV25G0X is a wide bowl and can accept a 6 quart bowl and also has a Flex Edge Beater available for purchase. Also the KV25G0X comes with a professional Wire Whip where as the KG25H0X comes with a standard Wire Whip

These both come with a 1 year total replacement warranty for functional failures.

They are both the same size as well. (H) 16.5 in, (W) 11.3 in, (D) 14.6 in and 25 pounds.

Can you tell the difference between the profession wire whip and the standard wire whip?

The professional Wire Whip has 11 tines and is completely stainless steel making it dishwasher friendly. The standard wire whip is 9 tines and mostly stainless steel however the top part that attaches to the Stand Mixer is burnished aluminum making this not dishwasher safe.

This tines on the professional are also 20% thicker.

The gears on the tilt is plastic vs metal on the lift. Keep this in mind.

Coupon site showing KAWELCOME as a code. Not sure if it works. Would have gone for this, but I want a tilt head model, not the bowl lift. Thumbs up.

Out of curiosity, what is better about the tilt head vs the bowl lift?

I've had both/ The tilt head is much easier and faster to use.

I just think that it's easier to see when egg whites are whipped to stiff peaks by tilting and seeing the bottom of the whisk. My bowl lift is such a pain. I have to lower the bowl and remove the whole whisk to see.

Can anyone tell us the difference between this one, and the Professional Plus that is $220 on their site as well as the $200 deal at Best Buy?

It's easier to change the hook/whisk/paddle attachments with the tilt head in my opinion. With the bowl lift, you will still need to put your hands in the mixing area to detach them. It's really not that bad, but a slight inconvenience. Also, I feel that the tilt head is more aesthetically pleasing

I hate my bowl lift. Can't add much more to what was already said, but it's so annoying that you have to put your paddle/utensils into your food in the bowl in order to attach or remove them. It's also harder to add some ingredients to the bowl unless you take the bowl off the machine...which requires you to remove the paddle first before you can get the bowl off. My mother has a tilt head, so much more efficient to use her machine (and hers has to be over 20 years old now and she makes a lot of breads, which strain the machine - no wobble).
