I honestly don't know anything about these but a lot of Ryobi fanboys love them. With all the battery deals since Black Friday thought some might want to try this.

I got this from direct tools in December for $50. It's body is super flimsy plastic and it's 2wd. You have to take the whole body off with 4 codder pins to put the battery in. The instructions say to not drive it through mud, etc. What fun is that? It is very fast, though. This price seems high to me for what you get, but if you have a vast area of pavement to use it, you might have some fun.

Mine worked for about 10 min then never ran again. Crazy fast but if you read the reviews it has a high failure rate.

That's a shame they made it so difficult to swap batteries. My 2 grandsons are 3 and 4 so guess I'll wait a couple years at least.

It's not difficult at all, takes roughly 10 seconds one-handed and you don't even need to put the cover on to use it so leave it off if you want. And to the guy you were replying to - they're not "codder" pins, they're hitch clip pins. I upgraded mine to large hitch pins and it's even easier.

Regular on sale at home depot or direct tools for 49.99. Not a good price.

I'm a big Ryobi fanboy and have tons of tools and batteries but I would pass on this. I got one of these a year or so ago for around $50 (brand new) and it died within a few uses. At $80 it's way too expensive even if it is cool to be able to use the One+ batteries and as others have said it is a fast car. Shame as when it worked (for the few minutes over 2-3 times) it was pretty cool.

Mine still works, but it is annoying because the remote isn't very response when your flying across the area. It also starts to break down in the steering linkage as you hit things. Everything is plastic and will break. I've seen some videos of upgrades, but it wasn't worth my time honestly.

I was excited when I discovered this RC on the DirectTool site a couple of months ago but then I started researching by watching YT and reading reviews about it. I was no longer excited about afterward and one of the complaints was how the remote wasn't so responsive.

This price is high. $59 is a good price. These are a ton of fun but don't expect them to last. They shut off every 30 mins to cool down. All Ryobi batteries will work with them. I have killed the motor in one of them and I still have one left that hopefully won't die too soon.

The remote is responsive on the two that I have.

I bought one of these for my son for Christmas (from direct tools for $60). Sounded great since have a bunch of batteries, but nothing but trouble. First, it had issues cutting off (overheating?) with any of the larger batteries (anything over 2ah). Then it stopped working completely on the first day (Christmas). I took it apart and discovered a gear had slid out of place. Put it back in place and added a stopper to keep it there. Even when working, flimsy body/parts, not very responsive remote (you have to wait a second for it to kick in often). Only positive is it is very fast. I would not recommend.

Right after I posted this, my son was driving with a friend and hit the tire of our car and the wheel broke off. At least I got some cool slow mo videos before it but the dust.
