Sure, but John only made ~1100 guitars. Several years ago investors bought the name and started selling under it.

Often the Musician's Friend SDoTD at $399 (sometimes $349) but inred with the F-holes.

Decent guitars, I've played this line a couple of times and for $299-399 they are a decent buy.

Made in Indonesia.

Thanks for finding this! As I posted over on the GuitarDeals subreddit, there are some versions of the single-cut available at the same price (including one with f-holes and a stairstep tail).

I have a white DC one on order. Will review it when I receive it. Youtube reviews are saying these are incredibly high quality guitars for $800, much less $300. D'Angelico was THE guitar to have in the 30's-50s. If you showed up at a gig with one, people knew you were serious business. Their Deluxe and Excel lines are in the $1500-$3000 range, with hand-made custom models reaching $20000+

I'm excited to try it out. Many people say they play very similar to the Gibson ES-350, so I'll need to get my BB King vibe going Smilie

Not usually. Hollow body guitars are much more prone to feedback and it would be very hard to keep it in check with the gain involved in most metal guitar tone. I'm sure it has been done before though.

I picked up a D'angelico from Musicians Friend during their Stupid Deal of the Day for $399. Was not super impressed with it tbh. It was a beautiful guitar but didn't love the pickups or the feel of the neck. Quality seemed above average for its price range. Ended up selling it on craigslits to a guy who said it needed a good set up... I felt the setup out the box was lacking but I don't like my action super low so I wasn't bothered too much by it.

If you want to learn how to play a semi-hollow electric, sure. If your end goal is strumming an acoustic around a campfire, or playing high-distortion death metal, then no in those cases an acoustic or a shredy solid-body would be a better choice.

This would work great for Rocksmith, Yousician, YouTube lessons etc, and as a semi-hollow you'll be able to hear it easily even without amplification.

They are definitely worth the $300.

If you have a GuitarCenter near you they probably have a Premier DC or Deluxe DC you can try out..

Rock on!
