You don't need $100 cables, but I'd at least recommend reputable $5-$10 cables. I bought these supposedly nice high end MediaBridge branded cables on Amazon and they couldn't pass a Dolby Vision signal from my Blu-Ray player to my TV correctly. Switched to Monoprice and no issues.

If you're hooking up a 4K piece of equipment such as a 4K fire stick or a 4K Disc player, xbox Yes you will need A cable like this as you will only get 30 frames per seconds instead of 60 frames per seconds Otherwise. I would get this cable here in the link in a length that you choose as this is the one I picked and they work correctly. Some cables claim to be 4K supported but they don't. Also don't get a length longer than 15 ft as it won't support 60 frames per second after that.

These cables are NOT "very" flexible so make sure you have enough room for large cable radius's. These are very good cables and I have never had a problem with them.

I just bought a 4k TV and just use some random hdmi cables from years ago to hook it up. Do I need these fancy cables to get the most out of the TV(HDR, dolby visio, HD audio etc)? Thanks for your advice.

Monoprice is selling the 3 pack for $9.98 + $3.99 for shipping for a total of $13.97 so it's the same price as Monoprice but shipping it is a whole lot faster with Amazon Prime. As I noted above though, these are stiff cables...

Have been using these 6-ft cables for a bit over a year now -- Vizio P65, Pioneer VSX-1131, NVidia Shield TV 2017, Xbox One X. All devices have been happy. HDMI-CEC works.

I bought these direct from Monoprice over a year ago and didn't like them. Had some issues with an Apple TV 4K. Replaced them with the HDMI cables from Costco and everything has been trouble free.
