Low price, but only 720p camera and non-video doorbell. I'd rather take this 100 and get a eufy doorbell at about the same price. Or use it toward a higher res system, Arlo or otherwise.

I used Arlo Pro system to catch a career criminal attempting to break into my house. I was at work. He got 7 years and has to pay me for the system when he gets paroled or they put him back in prison.

There is some delay in these where it misses the first few seconds of video when waking up on motion. It's the trade off for a remarkable battery powered device that lasts months. The 1080p versions "fixed" this with a rolling fifo buffer of a few seconds of constant recording at the sacrifice of battery life. I've been using this system for three years now and am very pleased with both the product and app (mostly run on Android pixel device but also tested on an iPhone)

I have Arlo Pro and Arlo Q systems. There is indeed a few seconds of lag before the video starts recording. I have had to place the Q cameras on the edges of motion of my Pro cameras to help offset the lag. The Q cameras are plugged in so they are a little more reliable than the Q. The pro batteries perform well in normal temperatures but tend to do worse in freezing conditions. I have had at best a couple months of battery life out of the pro w/ 10+ daily videos. What is nice with arlo is the free 7 day/1Gb storage and option for NAS.

As an Arlo Pro owner for over a couple of years now...my thoughts:

The good:
easy setup/installation
no wires!
long-lasting rechargable batteries (~3 months with ~6-12 videos a day, shorter for high-traffic monitoring - e.g. my front door needs swapping ~1/month)
easy battery switching (unless you've mounted them in hard to reach places)
durable (survived 2+ years of New England weather - with protective skins)
reasonable wireless range
local backup of videos via USB portable HD

The bad:
cloud-based access of videos only (unless you detach the aforementioned HD and connect to computer)
reasonable motion detection (but not great - videos often come in short segments of someone coming to my door and doing whatever)
Android app is OK on my phone
email alerts in Outlook used to have a picture for quick checking..but no longer and they don't care to fix this simple HTML email formatting issue...
TERRIBLE support.
TERRIBLE support.
TERRI... ok, you get the "picture" Wink

While Netgear has owned them, they've been more focused on pushing out new products to make money rather than support existing products and customers. Apparently Arlo and Netgear are splitting up, I don't know what effect, if any, that will have on tech support...
